Music of Nepal refers to the various musical genres played and listened to in Nepal. With more than fifty ethnic groups, the music of Nepal is highly diverse. Genres like Tamang Selo, Dohori, Adhunik Geet, Bhajan, Filmi music, Ghazal, Classical music, and Ratna music are widely played and popular, but many other less common genres are yet to be cataloged. Western musical genres like Rock, Metal, Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B also regularly feature on the Nepalese music charts. Most of the country's musical bands are based in the Kathmandu valley. Musical genres from Tibet and India have greatly influenced Nepalese music.
Udit Narayan is a playback singer of Nepalese paternal and Indian maternal descent whose songs have been featured mainly in Bollywood movies of Hindi language. He has also sung in various other languages including Nepali, Maithili and Bhojpuri and Tamil. He has won 4 National Film Awards and 5 Filmfare Awards with 20 nominations among many others. He had to struggle a lot even after his debut in 1980 in Bollywood playback. He got to sing with legends Mohammed Rafi in his Bollywood Playback debut in movie Unees-Bees in 1980 and also with Kishore Kumar in the 1980s. He finally made his mark in 1988 movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak starring Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla, his song "Papa Kehte Hain" was his notable performance which earned him his first Filmfare Award in the 1980s and he established himself in Bollywood Playback Singing. He is the only male singer in the history of the Filmfare Awards to have won in over three decades.
Pokhara is a metropolitan city in Nepal which is situated in the Gandaki Pradesh of Nepal. The country's second largest city, it is the capital city of Gandaki Pradesh. The city also serves as the headquarters of Kaski District. Pokhara is located 200 kilometres west of the capital Kathmandu. The altitude varies from 827 metres in the southern part to 1,740 metres in the north. The Annapurna Range, with three out of the ten highest mountains in the world — Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Manaslu — is within 15–35 mi (24–56 km) of the valley.
Radio City is India's first private FM radio station and was started on 3 July 2001. Radio City was owned by Rupert murdoch of Star tv network led by John Catlett who set up India’s First private FM station headed by Star India CEO Peter Mukerjea. Star later exited radio business in Indian due to legal restrictions on FDI and also because of star groups interest in partnering with TATA to start their Direct to home venture [TATASKY] by transferring ownership to India value fund in 2004 and now is owned by Music broadcast limited since 2015 which is a subsidiary of Jagran Prakashan Ltd. It broadcasts on 91.1 megahertz from Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and New Delhi. It plays Hindi, English and regional songs. It was launched in Hyderabad in March 2006, in Chennai on 7 July 2006 and in Visakhapatnam October 2007. Radio City recently forayed into New Media in May 2008 with the launch of a music portal - PlanetRadiocity.com now radiocity.in that offers entertainment related news, videos, songs, podcasts and other music-related features. The Radio station currently plays a mix of Hindi and Regional music. In 2010, Radio City launched its first internet radio station Radio City Fun Ka Antenna and now they have 52 online radio stations.
Radio Nepal is the state-owned Radio broadcasting organisation of Nepal, which was established on 2 April 1951. Initially, the transmission lasted for 4 hours and 30 minutes through a 250-watt short-wave transmitter. Over the years, Radio Nepal has strengthened its institutional capacity considerably and diversified itself in terms of programme format, technical efficiency and coverage. Radio Nepal airs programmes on short wave medium wave (AM) and FM frequencies.

Kantipur FM or Radio Kantipur is a Nepalese FM radio station, established in October 1998. It currently operates in the eastern, central, western, mid-western and far-western development regions. It is most popular in eastern region and in Kathmandu. It provides news and entertainment programs 24 hours a day. In 2007 it started nationwide transmission on two frequencies – 96.1 MHz in the east and central regions and 101.8 MHz in the west. Shiva Shankar Manandhar was a singer, music composer of Nepali songs and the chief actor in the first Nepali movie, Aama. For nearly a half century beginning from 1950 to late 1990, his name has probably been mentioned more often in books, journals, lectures and conversations about Nepalese music than any other musicians.
