Raffaello Bellini (1874-1930) [1] was an Italian zoologist.

Biography

Raffaello Bellini taught at Regia Scuola Tecnica Statale, Chivasso, He was a non resident Member of Società dei naturalisti in Napoli. Similarly to other distinguished naturalists (Oronzio Gabriele Costa, Achille Costa, Arcangelo Scacchi, etc.) he collaborated with the University of Naples Federico II. [2]

Together with the leading scholars of malacology then present in Naples (Ignazio Cerio, Tommaso di Maria Allery Monterosato, etc.) he contributed to a thorough knowledge of the fauna the Gulf of Naples. [3] For nearly fifty years his catalog of molluscs constituted the only general contribution on marine malacofauna of the Gulf of Naples. [4]

He described some new Molluscan species. [5] [6] Parts of his natural history collection are held by the Zoological Museum of Naples and by Centro Caprese Ignazio Cerio on Capri. [7] [8]

Marquise Marianna Panciatichi Ximenes d’Aragona Paulucci was an Italian malacologist who also made contributions to botany and ornithology. A specialist in non-marine molluscs, she published 32 malacological works, describing two genera and 159 species, and is commemorated in around 40 scientific names of organisms: primarily molluscs, as well as the fossil shark Scyllium pauluccii and the bird subspecies Sylvia atricapilla pauluccii.

Gianfranco Cimmino was an Italian mathematician, working mathematical analysis, numerical analysis, and theory of elliptic partial differential equations: he is known for being the first mathematician generalizing in a weak sense the notion of boundary value in a boundary value problem, and for doing an influential work in numerical analysis.

Antonio Giordani Soika was an Italian entomologist, ecologist and director of the Civic Museum of Natural History of Venice. He made great contributions to the knowledge of Neotropical wasps, especially potter wasps for which he produced many taxonomic keys and also monographs on the systematics of the wasp family Vespidae.

<i>Deroceras cecconii</i> Species of gastropod

Deroceras cecconii is a species of air-breathing land slug, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Agriolimacidae. Although it was long considered a synonym of Deroceras panormitanum, a 2020 article establishes that it is a distinct species widely distributed in the central part of the Italian peninsula. It is also known as an introduction at one site in eastern Germany.
