Raines, Tennessee

Raines was a suburb on the southern boundary of Memphis, Tennessee. It was located between West Junction, Oakville, and on the north of Whitehaven. In 1950 it had a population of 300.

At some point in 1958, it was incorporated into the City of Memphis.[ citation needed ]

One-man-band Joe Hill Louis was born here.

Memphis Union Station was a passenger terminal in Memphis, Tennessee. It served as a hub between railroads of the Southwest, the Missouri Pacific Railroad and the St. Louis Southwestern Railway, and railroads of the Southeast, the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway and the Southern Railway. The terminal, completed in 1912, was built in the Beaux-Arts style and was located on Calhoun Street, between south Second Street and Rayburn Boulevard. It was demolished in 1969. This location in south Memphis was approximately two blocks east of the other major Memphis railroad terminal, Memphis Grand Central Station.

Memphis Cotton Exchange

The Memphis Cotton Exchange is located in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, United States, on the corner of Front Street and Union Avenue. It was founded in 1874 as a result of the growing cotton market in Memphis, where trade was strong after the American Civil War. The first Cotton Exchange building was constructed in 1885. It was replaced by the Exchange Building in 1910, which housed it until a newer Cotton Exchange Building was completed in 1925.

The Memphis Suspension Railway or Mud Island Monorail is a suspended monorail that connects the city center of Memphis with the entertainment park on Mud Island. Celebrating its grand opening on July 3, 1982, it is located beneath a footbridge over the Wolf River Lagoon connecting to the southern tip of Mud Island.

Boxtown is a neighborhood in South Memphis, Tennessee. The neighborhood, which is near T.O. Fuller State Park, is also the oldest in South Memphis. Boxtown includes White's Chapel AME Church, which was built in 1890. Boxtown has numerous shotgun houses.

Northaven, Memphis Unincorporated community in Tennessee, United States

Northaven is an unincorporated community located in north Shelby County, Tennessee, United States, that is a part of the Memphis metropolitan area. Tennessee State Route 388 connects Northaven with Frayser and Shelby Forest. This is also the location of the famous 1994 Tony von Carruthers case where he shot his mother, her teenage associate and his drug dealer. The neighborhood is known for crime and blight. The Mississippi River Trail runs through the neighborhood.

Wilson, is an unincorporated community in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, located about 7 miles northwest of the center of Henryetta, Oklahoma, located off Wilson Road.
