Rajarampuri, also known as Mahalaxmi Nagar is a suburb in the city of southern Kolhapur in southern Maharashtra, India. It was named after its founder Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj the former ruler of the historic city. It comes under E ward. It is a typical residential area dotted with numerous stores.

Sunil Panjabrao Deshmukh is the Member of Legislative Assembly from the constituency of Amravati, Maharashtra, India. He is a member of Indian National Congress (INC). In 2009, he was expelled from the Indian National Congress due to his rebellion in the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha election, 2009 when he was denied a ticket to contest the election from his Amravati constituency in order to accommodate Mr. Raosaheb Shekhawat, the son of then President of India, Pratibha Patil. He was also the Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Public Works and Energy in the cabinet of the Government of Maharashtra (2004-2009). He was also the guardian minister for Amravati and Bhandara Districts of Vidarbha, Maharashtra from 2004-2009. Additionally, he also served as the ex-officio Vice-Chairman of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board's holding company and as the co-chairman of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Ltd.

Raosaheb Babasaheb Nimbalkar was an Indian first-class cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a wicket-keeper who occasionally bowled leg breaks. He played from 1934 to 1953, initially for Maharashtra and then for Baroda. Nimbalkar never played Test cricket but he travelled to England in 1946 as India's reserve wicketkeeper, understudying Dattaram Hindlekar. Nimbalkar was born at Kolhapur, Maharashtra and died at Jalna, Maharashtra. He was the elder brother of B. B. Nimbalkar.

Family members have also led the Congress party for most of the period since 1978 when Indira Gandhi floated the then Congress(I) faction of the party. It also is fairly common in many political parties in Maharashtra. The dynastic phenomenon is seen from national level down to district level and even village level.The three-tier structure of Panchayati Raj established in the 1960s also helped to create and consolidate the dynastic phenomenon in rural areas. Apart from government,political families also control cooperative institutions, mainly cooperative sugar factories,district cooperative banks in the state, and since the 1980s private for profit colleges. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party also features several senior leaders who are dynasts. In Maharashtra, the NCP has particularly high level of dynasticism.
Vishwas Mandlik, better known as Mandlik sir, was the founder of the "Yoga Vidya Dham" and is considered one of the foremost yoga teachers in India.
