Ahmed remained in jail until his assassination by three gunmen on his way to a court-mandated medical checkup on 15 April 2023.

Satya Pal Malik is an Indian politician. Malik served as the 10th and last Governor of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir,from August 2018 to October 2019,and it was during his tenure that revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was taken on 5 August 2019.
