José Carlos Cocarelli is a Brazilian classical pianist resident in France. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he was a pupil of Adele Marcus and Merces de Silva Telles. He was awarded second prize on the 1984 Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition and on the 1989 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He won the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in 1985 and the Concours Long-Thibaud in 1986.

The Ninth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition took place in Fort Worth, Texas from May 22 to June 6, 1993. Italian pianist Simone Pedroni won the competition, while Valery Kuleshov and Christopher Taylor were awarded the Silver and bronze medals.
The Eighth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition took place in Fort Worth, Texas, from May 27 to June 11, 1989. In June 2019 Broberg earned the third prize and bronze medal at The XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition. In June 2021 he won the American Piano Awards.
Daniel Hsu is an American classical pianist. He won the bronze medal, the Beverley Taylor Smith Award for the Best Performance of a New Work, and the Steven De Groote Memorial Award for the Best Performance of Chamber Music at the Fifteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

Yunchan Lim is a South Korean pianist. In 2022, he gained widespread recognition when he became the youngest person ever to win the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition at 18 years old. In 2023, he signed with Decca; his first album with the label, Chopin: Études, won the Piano Award at the 2024 Gramophone Classical Music Awards.
