Ramsay Robertson Dalgety, Lord Dalgety of Sikotilani Tonga is a Scottish and Tongan lawyer and judge. Scottish QC since 1986, and Tonga Law Lord since 2008.

On 28 July 2008 His Majesty King George Tupou V of Tonga appointed Dalgety as a Law Lord-in-Waiting, as one of the four members of a Judicial Committee of the Tongan Privy Council. He was elevated to the title of Life Peer, as Lord Dalgety of Sikotilani Tonga. [3]
On 26 February 2010 he was arrested for perjury after giving evidence to the Commission of Inquiry into the sinking of the ferry MV Princess Ashika. [4] In November 2010 the charge was quashed by the Supreme Court. [5] [1]
In May 2016, he was appointed Electoral Commissioner. [6] In October 2017 he resigned as chief executive of the Electricity Commission after an inquiry was launched into unaccounted-for pension funds. [2]
Tupou VI is the King of Tonga. He is the younger brother and successor of the late King George Tupou V. He was officially confirmed by his brother on 27 September 2006 as the heir presumptive to the Throne of Tonga, as his brother had no legitimate children. He served as Prime Minister of Tonga from 2000 to 2006 and as Tonga's High Commissioner to Australia, and resided in Canberra from 2008 until the death of King George Tupou V on 18 March 2012, when he became King of Tonga, with the regnal name Tupou VI.
Sonatane Tu'akinamolahi Taumopeau Tupou, Lord Taumoepeau-Tupou of Toula and Kotu was a diplomat from the Kingdom of Tonga. Lord Taumoepeau-Tupou had been the foreign minister of Tonga since 24 August 2004, though his appointment was not announced until 2 September 2004. He had also been Minister of Defense since April 2005 till his death.

Siaosi ʻAlipate Halakilangi Tau’alupeoko Vaea Tupou, more commonly known as Baron Vaea, was a Tongan politician who served as Prime Minister of Tonga. Vaea was a nephew of Queen Sālote, who ruled Tonga from 1918 until 1965, and a member of the Tongan nobility. His career in the Tongan government spanned 54 years.

The MV Princess Ashika was an inter-island ferry which operated in the South Pacific kingdom of Tonga. This motorised vessel (MV) was built in 1972, and began sailing the Tongan route on 7 July 2009 only to sink less than a month later on 5 August. Official figures released by Operation Ashika on 19 August 2009, confirmed that 54 men were rescued, and 74 people were lost at sea. These include two bodies recovered and 72 missing, including five foreign nationals. Two of the missing passengers remain unidentified.
