Rano Emirate is one of the four new emirates created in Kano State, Nigeria in 2019. [1] [2] [3] It is also one of the oldest settlements in Northern Nigeria, dating back to the 6th century AD. Rano Emirates has a rich and diverse cultural heritage, with historical monuments such as rocks, walls, and palaces. Rano Emirates was once part of the Kano Emirate, which was a Muslim state that emerged from the Fulani jihad in the early 19th century. Rano Emirates has had three ruling dynasties: the Kwararrafawa, the Habe, and the Fulani. [4] [5] [6] The current emir of Rano Emirates is Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa, [7] [8] [9] who was appointed in 2020 after deceased of first emir of Rano Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila. [10] [11]

The local government area is bounded to the north by Garun Mallam and Bunkure local government areas, to the east by Kibiya local government area, to the south by Tudun Wada local government area, and to the west by Bebeji local government area. The Rano local government council is in charge of public administration in Rano local government area. The council is led by a chairman who is the executive head of the local government. The Rano legislative council make laws governing Rano local government area. It consists of 10 Councillors representing the 10 wards of the local government area.

Bunkure is a Local Government Area in Kano State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Bunkure.

Sumaila is a historic town and the headquarters of a Local Government Area in Kano State, Nigeria.

The Daura Emirate is a religious and traditional state in Northern Nigeria, the Emir of Daura still rules as a ceremonial hereditary monarch, and maintains a palace. Muhammad Bashar became the emir in 1966, reigning for 41 years until his death in 2007, On 28 February 2007, Umar Faruk Umar became Emir of Daura succeeding Muhammad Bashar.

The Dambazawa are a Fulani clan residing mainly in Kano State, Nigeria. They were among the key promoters, planners and executors of the Fulani Jihad in Kano, which took place between 1804 and 1807 under the leadership of Shehu Usuman dan Fodiyo. The clan was said to be the top financier of the jihad because it was said to be extremely wealthy at the time of the jihad. Other Fulani Clans that participated in the Jihad included: the Jobawa, the Yolawa, the Sullubawa, the Danejawa and others, as well as a contingent of the native Hausa people led by Malam Usuman bahaushe. Together they formed a formidable force and toppled the 158 year Kutumbawa dynasty led by its last ruler Muhammad Alwali dan Yaji dan Dadi bakutumbe who ruled between 1781 and 1806.

Nura Musa Inuwa also called M Inuwa is a Hausa musician, artist and film producer. He was born, raised and educated in Kano State in the town of Gwammaja in Dala Local Government Area, Kano.

Aminu Ado Bayero, is the 15th Fulani Emir of Kano from the Fulani Sullubawa clan. He ascended the throne on 9 March 2020, following the deposition of his nephew Muhammad Sanusi II by Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He is the chancellor of the University of Calabar.

Kabiru Alhassan Rurum is a Nigerian politician and businessman from Kano State who serves as the speaker of Kano State House of Assembly from 2015 - 2017 and 2018 - 2019. He is the current member of the House of Representatives from Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya Federal Constituency in Kano State since 2019. Rurum is a traditional title holder from Rano Emirate as Turakin Rano.

Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya is the current Emir of Gaya, one of the four new Emirates created by Governor Ganduje's administration in 2019. He was appointed by the Kano State Government on September 26, 2021, following the death of his father, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir, who was the first Emir of Gaya. Ibrahim Aliyu was the Chiroman Gaya, a titleholder, before his ascension to the throne. He is the head of the Gaya Emirate. He is also a member of the Kano State Council of Emirs, which advises the Governor on matters of traditional administration and security.
