Raseswari Panigrahi is a former member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly representing the Sambalpur constituency. She was the first woman MLA from Sambalpur,elected on a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) ticket in 2014. [1] However,intra-party conflicts within the BJD and organizational challenges reportedly contributed to her defeat in the 2019 elections to BJP's Jayanarayan Mishra. [2]
In April 2024,Panigrahi resigned from the BJD,citing neglect by the party toward the Sambalpur region. [3] She expressed dissatisfaction with the party leadership for failing to prioritize the development needs of her constituency. [4]

Hussain Rabi Gandhi was an Indian Odia writer of the late-twentieth century,a politician,a public intellectual and a cultural activist hailing from the Indian state of Odisha. Hussain served as the President of Odisha Sahitya Akademi (2008–2010). He was famously known as the Gandhi of Korei and was regarded as a bridge between Western Odisha and Coastal Odisha. He also served as Lead Member of Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT).
