Ratana Techamaneewat, also known as Chanungarn Techamaneewat, is a Thai wheelchair tennis player.
Techamaneewat competed at the 2004 Paralympic Games where she won a silver medal in the women's doubles event. [1] She also competed at the 2012 Paralympic Games. [2]
The 1964 Summer Paralympics, originally known as the 13th International Stoke Mandeville Games and also known as Paralympic Tokyo 1964, were the second Paralympic Games to be held. They were held in Tokyo, Japan, and were the last Summer Paralympics to take place in the same city as the Summer Olympics until the 1988 Summer Paralympics.
Lucy Jessica Shuker is a British wheelchair tennis player who is currently the highest ranked woman in the sport in Britain. A previous singles and doubles National Champion, Shuker has represented Great Britain at four successive Paralympic Games, twice winning a bronze medal in the women's doubles and is former world doubles champion and World Team Cup silver medallist amongst a number of other national and international successes.
Dylan Martin Alcott, is an Australian former wheelchair tennis player, former wheelchair basketball player, radio host and motivational speaker. Alcott was a member of the Australia men's national wheelchair basketball team, known colloquially as the Australian "Rollers". At the age of 17, he became the youngest Rollers gold medal winner, at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, and was the youngest to compete in the wheelchair basketball competition. In 2014, he returned to wheelchair tennis with the aim of participating at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, at which he won gold medals in the Men's Quad Singles and Doubles. He was named the 2016 Australian Paralympian of the Year due to his outstanding achievements at Rio.
The 21st International Stoke Mandeville Games, later known as the 1972 Summer Paralympics was an international multi-sport event held in Heidelberg, West Germany, from August 2 to 11, 1972, in which athletes with physical disabilities competed against one another. The German Disabled Sports Association planned to stage the Games in Munich following the 1972 Olympic Games, however the Olympic village in Munich was designated to be closed and converted into private apartments. The organisers tried to arrange for alternative accommodation for the athletes but when this was not possible the city of Heidelberg stepped in with an invite to stage the Games at the University of Heidelberg's Institute for Physical Training.
Daphne Jean Hilton was an Australian Paralympic competitor. She was the first Australian woman to compete at the Paralympic Games. She won fourteen medals in three Paralympics in archery, athletics, fencing, swimming, and table tennis from 1960 to 1968.
Daniela "Danni" Di Toro is an Australian wheelchair tennis and table tennis player. Di Toro was the 2010 French Open doubles champion and has also been the Masters double champion. In singles, Di Toro is the former world number one and two time masters finalist. In 2015, she moved to para-table tennis and represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, where she was team captain with Kurt Fearnley. At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, her sixth Paralympics, she was the team captain and Opening Ceremony flag bearer with Ryley Batt.
Anthony Bonaccurso is a Paralympic alpine skier and tennis player competitor from Australia. He won a bronze medal at the 2004 Athens Games in the Men's Doubles event. He is one of the few Australian Paralympians to compete at both Summer and Winter Games.
Stefan Olsson is a former Swedish wheelchair tennis player. Olsson was a ranked world number two singles player. He has won four Grand Slam titles in doubles, the 2009 US Open, the 2010 and 2019 Wimbledon titles and the 2019 Australian Open. He has also won two in singles, at Wimbledon in 2017 and 2018. Olsson has won both the singles and doubles events at the year end Masters and is a Paralympic champion in men's doubles. He started playing tennis at the age of seven.
Ben Weekes is an Australian wheelchair tennis player. He represented Australia at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, his fifth Games.
Adam Kellerman is an Australian wheelchair tennis player. When he was thirteen years old, he was diagnosed with a form of cancer called Ewing sarcoma. He represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in the men's singles and doubles wheelchair tennis events. As of 21 July 2016, he is ranked Number 1 in Australia and Number 11 in the World for Men's Single Wheelchair Tennis. He competed for Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
Janel Manns is an Australian wheelchair tennis player. She has been selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in tennis.
Caz Walton OBE is a British retired wheelchair athlete and former Great Britain Paralympic team manager. She was a multi-disciplinary gold medallist who competed in numerous Paralympic Games. Between 1964 and 1976 she won medals in athletics, swimming, table tennis, and fencing. She took a break from the Paralympics, entering the basketball and fencing competitions in 1988. In total Walton won ten gold medals during her Paralympic career, making her one of the most successful British athletes of all time. Walton should also have been awarded gold in the 1968 Tel Aviv Women's Pentathlon incomplete but, due to a miscalculation of her total score which went unnoticed at the time, she was given third place and a bronze medal.
Mackenzie Soldan is an American wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis player. She represented the United States at the 2011 Parapan American Games where she won two gold medals, 2012 London Paralympics in wheelchair tennis and 2016 Rio Paralympics in wheelchair basketball. She has played for the U.S. women's wheelchair basketball team since 2013.
Maria Dolores "Lola" Ochoa Ribes is a Spanish wheelchair tennis player. A paraplegic as a result of an accident when she was 14, she picked up tennis as a wheelchair player following it. She has gone on to represent Spain at the 2004 Summer Paralympics, 2008 Summer Paralympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics, and the 2013 World Championships. In 2013, she was ranked 61st in the world.
Sarah Calati is an Australian wheelchair tennis player. She competed for Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
Alena Kánová is a Slovak table tennis player who has played at the Summer Paralympics for her country, winning gold at the 2000 Summer Paralympics, and silver at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. She also competed at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in wheelchair curling.
Diede de Groot is a Dutch professional wheelchair tennis player who is the current world No. 1 in both singles and doubles.
Louise Hunt is a British wheelchair tennis player who competed in international level events. She was a former world number 2 in the junior wheelchair tennis singles rankings, and 10 in the women’s international rankings. She is a colour badge holder as she competed in 2 Paralympic Games and 13 World Team Cups around the world. She got bronze at the 2011 BNP Paribas World Team Cup and silver medalist at the 2012 BNP Paribas World Team Cup. Louise is now an athlete mentor and unique motivational speaker. Hunt is an international tournament director and professional commentator, commentating at events such and Wimbledon, World masters and the Paralympics.
Frédéric Cattanéo is a French wheelchair tennis player who competed in international level events. He is a three-time French Open singles quarterfinalist and was the 2012 French Open wheelchair men's doubles champion with Shingo Kunieda. Amputated from both legs after a motorcycle accident, he started wheelchair tennis at the age of 23 in 2002.
Johana Martínez Vega is a Colombian wheelchair tennis player. She is a three-time silver medalist at the Parapan American Games in the women's doubles events in 2011, 2015 and 2019. She often collaborates with compatriot Angélica Bernal in women's doubles events. She is the first ever South American female wheelchair tennis player to have competed at the Paralympics.
