Ravi Rathore is a notable Indian polo player and an Arjuna Awardee. He is a Colonel and Commandant of the 61st Cavalry Regiment of the Indian Army, and also holds the appointment of Honorary secretary of the Indian Polo Association (IPA). Ravi Rathore is also the highest handicapped polo player in the Indian Army. [1] He has been an integral part of been part of the Indian Polo team for five consecutive World cup championships and won two golds in 2011 and 2017.

The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, officially known as Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in Sports and Games, is the highest sporting honour of the Republic of India. The award is named after Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India who served the office from 1984 to 1989. It is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The recipient(s) is/are selected by a committee constituted by the Ministry and is honoured for their "spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports over a period of four years" at international level. As of 2018, the award comprises a medallion, a certificate, and a cash prize of 7.5 lakh (US$11,000).

Dronacharya Award sports award

The Dronacharya Award, officially known as Dronacharya Award for Outstanding Coaches in Sports and Games, is sports coaching honour of the Republic of India. The award is named after Drona, often referred as "Dronacharya" or "Guru Drona", a character from the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata of ancient India. He was master of advanced military warfare and was appointed as the royal preceptor to the Kaurava and the Pandava princes for their training in military arts and astras. It is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Recipients are selected by a committee constituted by the Ministry and are honoured to have done "outstanding and meritorious work on a consistent basis and enabled sportspersons to excel in international events" over a period of four years. Two awards are designated for the lifetime contribution in coaching where the achievements in producing "outstanding sportspersons" over a period of 20 years or more are considered. As of 2017, the award comprises a bronze statuette of Dronacharya, a certificate, ceremonial dress, and a cash prize of 5 lakh (US$7,000).

Vijay Kumar (sport shooter) Indian sport shooter

Honorary Captain and Subedar Major Vijay Kumar Sharma Padma Shri, AVSM, SM is a sport shooter from India. He won the silver medal in the individual 25 metre rapid fire pistol event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Kumar hails from Barsar village of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh and is a retired Subedar Major in the Dogra Regiment Indian Army. Vijay Kumar is supported by the Olympic Gold Quest initiative. He has been posted at Indian Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) Mhow since 2003 where he is being coached by the Russian Pavel Smirnov.

Krishna Poonia is an international gold-medalist Indian discus thrower, track-and-field athlete, 3 times Olympics participant, Padma Shri and Arjuna Award recipient, politician from Congress party and the current MLA from Sadulpur constituency in Rajasthan. She participated in 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. In 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, she won a gold medal. She has the current National Record for the longest discus throw of 64.76 meters.

Kuldeep Singh Garcha is a notable former polo player of India. He had handicap of five goals and captained and coached the Indian polo team for several years. He was awarded "Arjuna Award" for achieving excellence in sports.

Col. Maharaj Prem Singh (1915–2000) was an Indian polo player born in a polo-playing family on 15 November 1915. His grandfather, Maharaj Bhopal Singh was an excellent horseman while his grand uncle Sir Pratap Singh of Idar was a renowned polo player. Maharaj Prem received most of his training from his father, Maharaj Kishen Singh, who himself was an excellent player and had received training from the famous Major-General Delisle.

The Dhyan Chand Award, officially known as Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports and Games, is the lifetime achievement sporting honour of the Republic of India. The award is named after Dhyan Chand (1905–79), an Indian field hockey player who scored more than 1000 goals during a career which spanned over 20 years from 1926 to 1948. It is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Recipients are selected by a committee constituted by the Ministry and are honoured for their contributions to sport both during their active sporting career and after retirement. As of 2019, the award comprises a statuette, a certificate, ceremonial dress, and a cash prize of 5 lakh (US$7,000). The cash prize was revised from 3 lakh (US$4,200) to 5 lakh (US$7,000) in 2009.

The 61st Cavalry Regiment of the Indian Army is a horse-mounted unit of the modern Indian Army. Although believed to be the largest operational mounted cavalry unit remaining in existence, the regiment primarily performs a ceremonial role.

Ruchi Trikha is an Indian epée fencing player. In July 2017, she was noted as the top women fencer in the Punjab region of India. Trikha competed at the Asian Games 2006. She was the first Indian to win two bronze medals at the Commonwealth Fencing Championship in 2006. Trikha won an individual gold medal and team gold medal at the 12th Thailand Open Asian Fencing Championship. She was coached by Arun Kumar Vij, secretary-general of the Fencing Association of India.

Colonel Eric Garnett Atkinson MVO, was a soldier and a British India 9-goal polo player. He competed in the 1924 and 1927 International Polo Cup.

Major-General Claude Ernest Pert was a senior cavalry officer in the British Indian Army, and British India polo champion.

Squash in India Sport in India

Squash is a popular recreational sport in India, and is gaining popularity as a competitive sport. It is governed by the Squash Rackets Federation of India. The India men's national squash team has participated in three quarter finals of the World Team Squash Championships since 1967.

Kavita Chahal is a 5' 9" tall heavyweight Indian female boxer and recipient of the highest world ranking 2 from 2012 to 2014 from the village Nimri which resides in the Bhiwani district, Haryana. In recognition of her achievements, the Government of India presented Chahal with the Arjuna Award in 2013. Chahal is the first female boxer from Haryana to be presented with the Arjuna Award. Chahal is a twice-consecutive World Championship medallist, 3 Time Gold medalist in World Police Games. 4-Time Asian championship, Asian cup medallist. With 9 gold medals, she is a record holder in women's national championship boxing. She is a 5-time gold medallist in the Federation Cup, and 7-times Gold medalist in all india police games 2012 to 2018. Chahal 3-time gold medallist in the Inter-zonal Super Cup championship.

Indian Polo Association

The Indian Polo Association (IPA) is the governing body for polo in India. Most of the IPA's major activities are executed by the 61 Cavalry Unit of the Indian Army. The Unit, based in Jaipur, is one of the few remaining cavalry units in the world that maintains its own stable of horses. The IPA's registered office is co-located with the 61 Cavalry's B Squadron.
