Raymond John Ashcroft is an English actor. He is best known for his roles as DS Geoff Daly in The Bill from 1996 to 2000, and Ronnie Marsden on Emmerdale from March to December 2003.

Career

In the late 1970s Ashcroft was the frontman of The Push, a Sheffield band. [1] He started acting in repertory theatre before working in television and film productions.

He played Ringo Starr in the biopic TV film Birth of the Beatles (1979), [2] and he has also appeared in various television productions including Coronation Street . [3]

Ashcorft played DS Geoff Daly in The Bill from 1996 to 2000 [4] [5] before portraying Ronnie Madsen in Emmerdale (2003). [6]

In 2018 he portrayed Tom Jackson, a Yorkshire miner, in the play On Behalf of The People. [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]

In 2021, he played the lead role of Horace in the short film Mr Wong's Lullaby. [12]

Apocalypse Now is a 1979 American epic war film produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The screenplay, co-written by Coppola, John Milius, and Michael Herr, is loosely based on the 1899 novella Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, with the setting changed from late 19th-century Congo to the Vietnam War. The film follows a river journey from South Vietnam into Cambodia undertaken by Captain Willard, who is on a secret mission to assassinate Colonel Kurtz, a renegade Special Forces officer who is accused of murder and presumed insane. Geoff Dugmore is a Scottish drummer, musical director and producer. He was a member of the bands the Europeans, and Wildlife.
