It has been a University since 1992, but has its origins in a series of institutions dating back to the 19th century. It has made teaching quality a particular focus of its activities, winning the inaugural Higher Education Academy Global Teaching Excellence Award in 2017, and achieving a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold Award, in 2017 and 2023. The University has also put an increasing focus on research quality, and as of 2022 more than three quarters of its academic staff hold a doctorate, the third highest rate in England.
Kirklees Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, England. Since 1994, it has been the home ground of football club Huddersfield Town and rugby league side Huddersfield Giants, both of whom moved from Leeds Road.

Mark Alexander Hudson is an English football manager and former professional footballer who was most recently manager at Cardiff City. A centre-back, he began his professional career with Fulham after progressing through the club's youth academy. He made his senior debut in a League Cup match in 2000 but made just two further first team appearances for Fulham. He spent two spells on loan with Oldham Athletic in 2003 before joining Crystal Palace on loan after Oldham manager Iain Dowie moved between the two clubs. He joined Palace on a permanent basis soon after as they spent one season in the Premier League before establishing himself in the first team following their return to the Championship.
The 2015–16 season was Huddersfield Town's fourth consecutive season in the Championship and 107th year in existence. Along with competing in the Championship, the club participated in the FA Cup and League Cup. The season covers the period from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016.
The 2018–19 season is Huddersfield Town's 110th year in existence and second season in the Premier League following promotion via the 2017 Championship play-off final. The club has finished their FA Cup and EFL Cup campaigns. They suffered the joint-earliest relegation to the Championship since Derby County in 2008 after a 2–0 defeat to Crystal Palace on 30 March 2019.
