Mason County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2010 census, the population was 60,699. The county seat and only incorporated city is Shelton. The county was formed out of Thurston County on March 13, 1854. Originally named Sawamish County, it took its present name in 1864 in honor of Charles H. Mason, the first Secretary of Washington Territory.

Harbor Island is an artificial island in the mouth of Seattle, Washington's Duwamish River where it empties into Elliott Bay. Built by the Puget Sound Bridge and Dredging Company, Harbor Island was completed in 1909 and was then the largest artificial island in the world, at 350 acres (1.4 km²). Since 1912, the island has been used for commercial and industrial activities, including secondary lead smelting, shipbuilding and repair, bulk petroleum storage, metal fabrication, and containerized cargo shipping. Warehouses, laboratories, and other buildings are located on the island.
Raft Island is a private island and CDP located near the Pierce County community of Rosedale, Washington, United States. Gig Harbor, Washington is the nearest incorporated town, although unincorporated Artondale is much closer. The island features approximately 200 homes on 160 acres. All of these homes are served through the Gig Harbor post office.
Anderson Island is the southernmost island in Puget Sound and a census-designated place of Pierce County, Washington, United States. It is accessible by boat or a 20-minute ferry ride from Steilacoom. Anderson Island lies just south of McNeil Island. To the northwest, Key Peninsula lies across Drayton Passage. The south basin of Puget Sound separates the island from the mainland to the southeast, while to the southwest the Nisqually Reach of Puget Sound separates the island from the mainland.
Squaxin Island is in the extreme southwestern part of Puget Sound in Mason County, Washington, United States. The island is an Indian reservation of the Native American Squaxin Island Tribe. It once contained a Washington State Park by the same name, which has since been closed, and the land returned to the Squaxin Tribe. The island's land area is 5.739 km2 (2.216 sq mi). There was no resident population as of the 2000 census.
Stretch Island is an island in Case Inlet in the southern part of Puget Sound in the U.S. state of Washington. It forms part of the unincorporated Mason County community of Allyn-Grapeview. The island has a land area of 1.2179 km² and a population of 119 persons as of the 2000 census. On the island's north side, it has buoys for overnight mooring, and Stretch Point State Park, a small state park only accessible by boat.

Its northern end, called North Bay, reaches nearly to Hood Canal, creating the defining isthmus of Kitsap Peninsula. Case Inlet is the boundary between Pierce County and Mason County. The southern end of Case Inlet is connected to Nisqually Reach, part of the southern basin of Puget Sound. Herron Island lies in Case Inlet.
