Rebecca Sultana is a Bangladeshi former government official who is the 9th and current First Lady of Bangladesh as the wife of President Mohammed Shahabuddin. She is serving as the First Lady of Bangladesh since 24 April 2023. [1] [2]

Career

Rebecca Sultana joined BCS administration cadre as Assistant Commissioner and retired in 2009 as Joint Secretary. She is currently a professor in the Department of Human Resources Program at Primeasia University and also Chief Advisor of Primeasia University and is serving as the Founder Chairman of Friends for Children Organization. [3] [4]

Personal life

On 16 November 1972, Rebecca Sultana married Mohammed Shahabuddin. [5] They have a son named Arshad Adnan, who produced several Bangladeshi films, including the highest grossing Bangladeshi film Priyotoma (2023). [3]

1971 Dhaka University massacre was the mass murder of students and faculty at the University of Dhaka in East Pakistan by the Pakistan Army, at the beginning of what would become the Bangladesh Liberation War. The film was produced by the Information and Communication Technology Division and jointly directed by Shohel Mohammad Rana and Chandan K. Barman. The film is based on The Unfinished Memoirs, the autobiography of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The animation film showed the events of a certain period in the life of Bangladesh's founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from 1948 to 1969.
