The Rebujas Rock is a Rock Music Festival held every September in the village of San Mateo, Cantabria, Spain. [1]

History

What began in 1997 as a small festival where local rock groups and groups of traditional music performed for no more than 600 people, is today a major national festival, that attracts more than 9,000 people while maintaining its original identity including free admission and free camping. There is no profit motive, and it is organised by the S.C.D. Rebujas.

Since 2002 the Rebujas Rock is held in memory of Gabriel Gutierrez Laguillo. The year 2009, as the big news came to light a tribute song to the Festival; "Que No Amanezca", which have worked in the major rock groups throughout the state. Besides being an indelible anthem, serves as an important tool to defend and claim the status of San Mateo as the People to avoid extinction. It is the first musical work that is published throughout the long history of people and leaving fruit to the work of the SCD Rebujas.

Héroes del Silencio was a Spanish rock band from Zaragoza, formed by guitarist Juan Valdivia and singer Enrique Bunbury. The lineup was completed by bassist Joaquín Cardiel and drummer Pedro Andreu. During the 1980s they experienced success around Spain and the Americas, and in various European countries including Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Yugoslavia, and Portugal. They established themselves as one of the major contributors to the Rock en español scene and are considered to be one of the all-time best bands in that genre. Rock Urbano is a hard rock movement developed at late 1970s in Spain. Influenced by hard rock acts like Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple and early punk rock bands such as Ramones or The Clash, their lyrics deal about social and marginal problems. Thus, in groups like Leño were influenced by hard rock and blues rock, in others as Barricada, the heavy metal and punk, while in groups like Extremoduro and Marea performs a rock with poetic lyrics, however, they retain the rawness that distinguished the style. Besides, in bands such as Fito & Fitipaldis or Albertucho there are included a mixture of musical influences. The phenomenon arises in the 1970s, with bands like Burning, Asphalt, Topo and, above all, Leño. These bands started to differentiate from the rest of the other because of their lyrics deal. In the following years, some of the leading Rock Urbano acts were Barricada, Los Suaves, Extremoduro, Platero y Tú, Reincidentes or Rosendo.
