Red Deer Public Schools, also known as Public School District No. 104 or the Red Deer Public School District is responsible for public education in the city of Red Deer, Alberta. It governs a total of 28 schools; 13 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 2 high schools and 8 alternative schools. [1] [2]

The high schools managed by the district are Hunting Hills High School and École Secondaire Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School.

The Red Deer Transit Department is part of the Community Services Division of the City of Red Deer, which lies midway between Calgary and Edmonton in the province of Alberta, Canada. The city took over operation of the public transit system from private operators in 1966. In 2009 transit service was extended to Springbrook and Gasoline Alley in Red Deer County. In 2014 transit service was extended to Blackfalds and Lacombe to the north. In 2019 transit service was extended to Penhold and Innisfail. In mid 2019 the City of Red Deer announced plans to engage in improvements to the transit network.

Municipal elections were held in Alberta, Canada on Monday, October 21, 2013. Mayors (reeves), councillors (aldermen), and trustees were elected to office in 16 of the 17 cities, all 108 towns, all 93 villages, all 5 specialized municipalities, all 64 municipal districts, 3 of the 8 improvement districts, and the advisory councils of the 3 special areas. The City of Lloydminster is on the Saskatchewan schedule (quadrennial), and held elections on October 24, 2012, while 5 improvement districts have no councils and are led solely by the Minister of Municipal Affairs. Since the 2010 municipal elections, portions of Lac La Biche County and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo formed Improvement District No. 349, and the villages of New Norway and Tilley were dissolved. From 1968 to 2013, provincial legislation has required every municipality to hold elections every three years. The Alberta Legislative Assembly passed a bill on December 5, 2012, amending the Local Authorities Election Act. He was first elected with 82 per cent of the vote in a by-election in July 2018, and was re-elected in the 2019 Alberta general election to the 30th Alberta Legislature. In the 2023 Alberta general election, Dreeshen was once again re-elected to the 31st Alberta Legislature.

After LaGrange's re-election as an MLA in 2023, she was appointed Minister of Health.

Jason Stephan is a Canadian politician elected in the 2019 Alberta general election to represent the electoral district of Red Deer-South in the 30th Alberta Legislature. He is a member of the United Conservative Party. Stephan is a tax lawyer, chartered accountant, and founder of the Red Deer Taxpayers Association.

Demetrios Nicolaides is a Canadian politician who was elected in the 2019 Alberta general election to represent the electoral district of Calgary-Bow in the 30th Alberta Legislature. He is a member of the United Conservative Party. On April 30, 2019, he was appointed to be the Minister of Advanced Education in the Executive Council of Alberta.
