Reenat Fauzia (born 1967) is a Bangladeshi sitarist.

Early life and family

Fauzia was born in 1967. She is the daughter of Mobarak Hossain Khan, a former Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and the chairman of the Trustee Board of Nazrul Institute, [1] and Fauzia Khan, a vocal artist. She is the granddaughter of Ustaad Ayet Ali Khan. [2]

Training

Fauzia started her training in music lessons from her cousin Ustaad Shahadat Hossain Khan, [ citation needed ] a sarode player of Bangladesh. Later, she received her Guru-Shishya-Parampara music training from her cousin Ustaad Khurshid Khan , [ citation needed ] a sitar preceptor. She completed a five-year certificate course on sitar from Chhayanaut, a music institute of Bangladesh. Later she joined the faculty of the same institute as a teacher. After taking lessons on sitar for twelve years, she joined participating in programs of Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar. [ citation needed ] She also makes appearances on stage for performing solo recital on sitar [3] [4] During her visit to the US, UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Philippines, and Hong Kong, [5] [6] [7] [8] she performed recitals on Sitar. Allauddin Khan Bengali musician

Allauddin Khan, also known as Baba Allauddin Khan was a Bengali sarod player and multi-instrumentalist, composer and one of the most notable music teachers of the 20th century in Indian classical music.

Annapurna Devi was an Indian surbahar player of Hindustani classical music. She was given the name 'Annapurna' by former Maharaja Brijnath Singh of the former Maihar Estate (M.P.), and it was by this name that she was popularly known. She was the daughter and disciple of Allauddin Khan, the founder of Maihar gharana, and Madina Bibi and the first wife of the sitar player Ravi Shankar. After her separation from Ravi Shankar, she moved to Bombay and never performed again in public. She remained a private person, yet continued to teach music for free. Sabina Yasmin is a Bangladeshi singer. She is best known as a playback singer in Bengali cinema. She has won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer a record 14 times. She has recorded more than 1,500 songs for films and over 10,000 songs in total.

Shujaat Husain Khan is one of the greatest North Indian musician and sitar player of his generation. He belongs to the Imdadkhani gharana. He has recorded over 100 albums and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best World Music Album for his work with the band Ghazal with Iranian musician Kayhan Kalhor. He also sings frequently. His style of sitar playing, known as gayaki ang, is imitative of the subtleties of the human voice.

Ustad Rais Khan was a Pakistani sitarist. At his peak he was regarded as 'one of the greatest sitar players of all time'. He continued performing till his last days. He moved from India to Pakistan in 1986, where he took up Pakistani citizenship. In 2017, Khan was awarded Pakistan's third highest civilian honour, the Sitara-i-Imtiaz.

Nilufar Yasmin Musical artist

Nilufar Yasmin was a Bangladeshi singer of Nazrul Sangeet, Rajanikanta Geeti, Dwijendra Geeti and Atul Prasdi genre. She was the fourth of five Yasmin sisters of Bangladesh music. Her siblings are Farida Yasmin, Fauzia Yasmin, Nazma Yasmin, and Sabina Yasmin. She was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2004 by the Government of Bangladesh. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her performance in the film Shuvoda (1986).

Phuljhuri Khan was a tabla and esraj player from Bangladesh. He was also an accomplished sanai, sitar, and pakhawaj player.

Ustad Abed Hossain Khan was a Bangladeshi musician, music composer and music director. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1985 by the government of Bangladesh.
