Regatta is a British clothing brand based in Manchester. It is part of the privately owned Regatta Group, which also consists of Regatta Great Outdoors, Craghoppers, Dare2b, and Regatta Professional. The brand sells through major outdoor retail chains, through its own stores and concessions, and through e-commerce. [1]

History

In 1977 Lionel Black bought a small workwear company called Risol Products. In 1981 he started developing the Regatta brand and in 1996 the company changed its name to Regatta Ltd. Regatta bought the Hawkshead outdoor clothing stores in 2010.[ citation needed ]

Products

Regatta's product line includes waterproof and breathable jackets, fleeces, trousers, footwear and camping equipment for men, women and children. [2] [3]

Product lines also include battery operated heated jackets [4] in 2019 and Brite Light in 2021 which features jackets and hats with inbuilt torches. [5]

Awards

The company has been awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade on two occasions (2012 and 2013) due to its international growth. [6]

Partnerships

The brand launched their first licensed partnership with Peppa Pig in early 2021. The range includes waterproof jackets, puddlesuits, wellies, fleeces and other children's garments. [7]

Celebrity ambassadors

Regatta work with celebrity ambassadors which have in the past included Girls Aloud member Kimberley Walsh [8] as well as Alesha Dixon [9] and Vogue Williams. [10]

TV presenter Rochelle Humes [11] launched a collection of eight jackets in September 2021. ITV This Morning presenter Josie Gibson curated style edit for the third season in Spring 2022. [12] The current womenswear brand ambassador is Giovanna Fletcher. The current menswear ambassador is cricketer and broadcaster Andrew Flintoff, aka Freddie Flintoff. [13]

Kimberley Jane Scott is an English singer, dancer, television personality and actress. She rose to fame in late 2002 when she auditioned for the talent-search series Popstars: The Rivals on ITV. The series announced Walsh had won a place as a member of the girl group Girls Aloud. The group achieved large success, nearly managing 20 consecutive top-10 UK singles, interrupted only by 2008 film-promotional single Theme To St Trinian's peaking at No 51; six studio albums all certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), two of which went to number one in the UK; and accumulating a total of five BRIT Award nominations. In 2009, Girls Aloud won Best Single with their song "The Promise".

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Original Mountain Marathon</span>

The Original Mountain Marathon (OMM), formerly known as the Karrimor International Mountain Marathon, and initially simply The Karrimor, is a two-day Mountain event, held in a different region across the UK every year. It was first held in 1968 and continues today. Gerry Charnley, a skilled mountaineer and orienteer, designed the KIMM to test orienteering skills in extreme circumstances; the full-length KIMM course is a double-marathon length race. Each team must carry all their gear, including equipment for an overnight camp. Moreover, the course is not disclosed until the race begins, so each team must have good navigation skills. Some have called the KIMM the forerunner of modern adventure racing.

Berghaus Limited is a British outdoor clothing and equipment brand founded in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England, and now headquartered in nearby Sunderland. It was founded in 1966 by climbers and mountaineers Peter Lockey and Gordon Davison, initially as an importer and distributor of outdoors products. Lockey and Davison's outdoor store in Newcastle upon Tyne, went by the name of the LD Mountain Centre. In 1972 they began designing and manufacturing their own products for sale in their shop. They gave their brand the German name 'Berghaus' which translates as 'mountain house'.

This includes technical garments such as puffer jackets, hiking boots and fleeces, and brands such as The North Face, Patagonia and Arc'teryx. While the trend has a practical basis, it has also been embraced for its stylish appeal, with celebrities incorporating outdoor gear into everyday outfits. Coined in 2017, gorpcore emerged as a popular trend in the 2020s; some analysts suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic in part influenced this.
