Remco olde Heuvel (Losser, November 24, 1983) is a Dutch former speed skater. His specialty was the sprint and middle distances. After riding for the VPZ skating team for several years, he made the switch to TVM in 2010 for which his younger brother Wouter had been riding for several years. In 2012, he left TVM again. On November 20, 2012, he announced that he would stop skating because he could no longer muster the motivation to continue. [2]
On November 12, 2005 Olde Heuvel, together with Jochem Uytdehaage and Rintje Ritsma, rode in the team pursuit in Calgary to 3.41.63. At the end of October 2006, Olde Heuvel set the unofficial world record outdoor track in the 1500 meters on the ice rink of the Bavarian Inzell. His finishing time was 1.47.81: that made him five hundredths of a second faster than the old record held by Mark Tuitert. In the 2007/2008 season he qualified for the first two World Cup competitions during the National Distances Championships at 1000 meters. In 2009, Olde Heuvel finished fourth in the 1500 meters. He was also selected for the team pursuit where he, together with Jan Blokhuijsen and Koen Verweij, set the winning time in Thialf, together with the USA team at 3.43.94. His younger brother Wouter is also a speed skater.
Sven Kramer is a retired Dutch long track speed skater who has won an all time record nine World Allround Championships as well as a record ten European Allround Championships. He is the Olympic champion of the 5000 meters at the Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics, and won a record 21 gold medals at the World Single Distance Championships; eight in the 5000 meters, five in the 10,000 meters, and eight in the team pursuit. Kramer is the current world record holder in the team pursuit and broke the world records in the 5000 meter and 10,000 meter events three times. By winning the 2010 World Allround Championship, Kramer became the first speed skater in history to win four consecutive world allround championships and eight consecutive international all round championships. He was undefeated in the 18 international allround championships he participated in from the 2006/2007 season until the 2016/2017 season. From November 2007 to March 2009, he was ranked first in the Adelskalender, but despite his dominance as an all-round skater he has since been overtaken on that list by Shani Davis and, more recently, by his teammate Patrick Roest.
Anna ("Anni") Christine Friesinger-Postma is a German former speed skater. Her father Georg Friesinger, of Germany, and mother Janina ("Jana") Korowicka, of Poland, were both skaters; Jana was on the Polish team at the 1976 Winter Olympics. Her brother Jan is also a speed skater. Her sister Agnes is a former speed skater. In July 2010, Friesinger retired from her active sports career when she had to be treated for severe cartilage damage in her right knee joint.
Egbert Rolf "Erben" Wennemars is a Dutch former speed skater. He specialized in the sprint and middle distances of 500, 1000 and 1500 meters, and set six world records during his career.
Irene Karlijn (Ireen) Wüst is a Dutch former long track speed skater of German ancestry. Wüst became the most successful speed skating Olympian ever by achieving at least one gold medal in each of five consecutive Winter Olympic appearances. Wüst is also the only athlete to win an individual gold medal in five consecutive Olympics, Summer or Winter.
Mark Jan Hendrik Tuitert is a retired Dutch speed skater. He won gold at the 1500 m at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
The 2007 KNSB Dutch Allround Championships in speed skating were held in the Thialf stadium in Heerenveen, Netherlands, on 23 and 24 December 2006. Although the event took place in December 2006 this was the 2007 edition as it is part of the 2006–07 speed skating season.
Milan Sáblík is a Czech former speedskater and the younger brother of Martina Sáblíková, the 2007 European Champion and double World Single Distances Champion. Martina Sáblíková and Milan Sáblík are a rare example of sister and brother both holding world records in the same sport at the same time; Martina holds the (senior) world records in the 5,000-m and 10,000-m events, as well as in the 3,000m, while Milan held the junior world record for the team pursuit with fellow Czech junior skaters Pavel Kulma and Zdeněk Haselberger between 2007 and 2010.
Paulien van Deutekom was a Dutch champion speed skater who specialised in the middle to long distances, over 1000 and 1500 metres.
Johannes Nicolaas Maria ("Jeroen") Straathof is a retired Dutch racing cyclist and speed skater. Straathof was the first, and still the only, athlete in the world to represent his country at the Summer Olympics, the Winter Olympics and the Paralympics.

Kjeld Nuis is a Dutch speed skater.
Jorien Voorhuis is a Dutch speedskater. Until season 2009/2012 she skated with the VPZ-team. Before season 2010/2011 Voorhuis changed to TVM. Her favorite distances are 1500 and 3000 meters.
