The Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 is an act of the National Assembly for Wales which regulates residential landlords in Wales. The goal of the legislation was to simplify rental contracts in Wales. [1]
The act prohibits landlords from charging fees to access a contract. [2]
The act consolidates various and complex pieces of existing legislation and case law into a single law. [3]
The act came into force on 1 December 2022. [4] It had been planned to come into force on 15 July 2022 but this was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [4] [5]
