Based on the 1917 novel of the same name by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, the film narrates the story of Devdas Mukherjee (Khan), a wealthy law graduate who returns from London to marry his childhood friend, Parvati "Paro" (Rai). However, the rejection of their marriage by his own family sparks his descent into alcoholism, ultimately leading to his emotional deterioration and him seeking refuge with the golden-hearted courtesan Chandramukhi (Dixit).

Indrajeet is a 1991 Bollywood action film directed by K. V. Raju. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Prada in lead roles, with Kumar Gaurav, Neelam, Saeed Jaffrey, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Kader Khan in supporting roles. The film tells the story of Nehalata Malhotra, a young woman who regresses to childhood as result of retrograde amnesia after suffering a head injury in a car crash. She was lost, and ended up trapped in a brothel before being rescued by Somu, a lonely school teacher who falls in love with her. The film was released on 8 July 1983.

Shriya’s debut film Gita, in the Telugu film industry. But Zee Motion Pictures cast Shriya Jha in Bengali film. Koel Mallick was supposedly cast as the female lead but she opted out, due to date problems. Shriya plays Aankhee, a visually challenged girl who runs a flower shop and falls in love with Joseph (Rishi Roy, named Arindam Roy in Ollywood but rename himself to Rishi for Bengali Film Industry.
