Writing for the fan-based blog Carnesa, Benjamin Solomon states, "The album is a moody record, and the eerie nature of his voice makes for a chilling collection of acoustic pieces perfectly collated to tell a story almost incomprehensible due to his ghostly vocals, but very relatable... [the album] is sorrowfully sombre, yet is a fine anesthetizer to the more up-beat and violent waves rocking the radio today," stating tracks Empire, Wildfire and Revival as album highlights. He also praises Tim Bettinson's vocal performance, noting that it is "transcendent from start to finish, although it particularly is powerful on Someone to Stay." [2]
Creedence Clearwater Revival, also referred to as Creedence and CCR, was an American rock band formed in El Cerrito, California. The band initially consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty; his brother, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty; bassist Stu Cook; and drummer Doug Clifford. These members had played together since 1959, first as the Blue Velvets and later as the Golliwogs, before settling on the Creedence Clearwater Revival name in 1967.
Robert Keith McFerrin Jr. is an American folk-jazz vocalist. Neko Richelle Case is an American singer-songwriter and member of the Canadian indie rock group the New Pornographers. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is a song originally written and recorded by Solomon Linda under the title "Mbube" for the South African Gallo Record Company in 1939. Dave Smalley is an American musician, best known as the lead singer for the hardcore punk bands DYS, Dag Nasty, and All and as lead singer/guitarist with Down by Law. He is known for his influence on pop punk music and his early contributions to the emo genre. He also founded a side project called The Sharpshooters, whose music is influenced by mod revival bands such as The Jam. Smalley has also produced and appeared on Canadian punk band Penelope's second album, Face au silence du monde, recorded by Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studio in Arlington, Virginia.

Vancouver Sleep Clinic is an Australian band led by ambient singer, songwriter, and record producer Tim Bettinson. Tim has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Chinese American musician Zhu, Madeon, Raury, Wafia, and Gnash. He worked with Grammy Award-winning Al Shux on Vancouver Sleep Clinic's debut album, titled Revival, released on April 7, 2017. Vancouver Sleep Clinic released an EP called TherapyPhase01 in March 2018, followed in June by Therapy Phase 02. In 2019, the second studio album Onwards to Zion was released.
