Rhonda Knudsen (born 1960) [1] is an American politician and retired civil engineer serving as a member of the Montana House of Representatives from the 34th district. Elected in 2019,Knudsen succeeded her son,House Speaker Austin Knudsen. [2] [3]
Knudsen was born and raised in Culbertson,Montana. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Montana State University.
Prior to entering politics,Knudsen worked as a civil engineer for the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Bureau of Indian Affairs. Knudsen was elected to the Montana House of Representatives in 2018 took office in 2019,succeeding her son,House Speaker Austin Knudsen,who was unable to seek re-election due to term limits and later announced his candidacy for Attorney General of Montana in the 2020 election. Knudsen and her husband have two children,including Austin.
Women have served in the United States House of Representatives,the lower chamber of the United States Congress,since 1917 following the election of Republican Jeannette Rankin from Montana,the first woman in Congress. In total,396 women have been U.S. representatives and eight more have been non-voting delegates. As of January 3,2025,there are 125 women in the U.S. House of Representatives,making women 28.7% of the total. Of the 404 women who have served in the House,269 have been Democrats and 135 have been Republicans. One woman was the 52nd Speaker of the House,Democrat Nancy Pelosi of California.

Austin Miles Knudsen is an American lawyer and politician serving as the Attorney General of Montana. He formerly served as the Speaker of the Montana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019. During his time in the Montana House from 2010 to 2018,he represented House District 36,which includes the Culbertson area.
Matthew Martin Rosendale Sr. is an American politician and former real estate developer who represented Montana in the United States House of Representatives from 2021 to 2025. A member of the Republican Party,Rosendale served in the Montana House of Representatives from 2011 to 2013,and in the Montana Senate from 2013 to 2017. From 2015 to 2017,he served as Montana Senate majority leader. Rosendale was elected Montana state auditor in 2016 and held that position from 2017 to 2020. Rosendale ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014 and for the U.S. Senate in 2018. He was elected to represent Montana's at-large congressional district in 2020. After Montana regained its second House seat in the 2020 census,Rosendale was elected to represent its new 2nd congressional district in 2022.

Before serving in the legislature,Schreiner worked as a middle school teacher,executive director of the Montana State Workforce Innovation Board,and as the director of work-based learning for the Montana Department of Labor and Industry.
