Rhonda Tiakia Tomailuga (born 1988/1989) is a Niuean politician and member of the Niue Assembly. She is the daughter of former MP John Operator Tiakia. [2]
Tiakia-Tomailuga previously worked as a communications officer for the Niuean Government. [2] She was first elected to the Niue Assembly in the 2023 Niuean general election,defeating Shield Utalo Palahetogia in her father's seat of Lakepa. [1] [2]
The Niue Assembly or Niue Parliament is the legislature of Niue. It consists of 20 members;14 representatives of the villages and 6 elected on a common island-wide roll. Members are directly elected by universal suffrage,and serve a three-year term. Niue follows the Westminster system of government,with the Premier elected by the Assembly and the Cabinet drawn from it.
