Paraiba signed with Santa Tecla F.C. of the Salvadoran Primera División in 2013.

Paraiba scored a crucial goal in a 1–0 victory against Municipal Limeño in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Apertura 2018 at the Estadio Jose Ramon Flores, in November 2018.

There will be two seasons conducted under identical rules, with each team playing a home and away game against the other clubs for a total of 22 games per tournament. At the end of each half-season tournament, the top 8 teams in that tournament's regular season standings will take part in the playoffs. The champions of Apertura and Clausura will both qualify for the 2016–17 CONCACAF Champions League. Should the same team win both tournaments, the runners-up with the best aggregate record will qualify for the Champions League.
