Ricardo Chavez-Ortiz was a Mexican American activist who is best known for hijacking of Frontier Airlines Flight 91. After taking control of the aircraft, he demanded to be allowed airtime on the news to protest the abuse of his children and also Mexican-Americans at the hands of the American government. After holding hostages on the plane with an unloaded gun, he eventually let the hostages go and peacefully surrendered. [1]
