Richard David Lansdown (born March 5 1961 in Croydon, England) is a prominent Australian literary scholar, author, and academic [1] of English descent, known for his extensive work on the English Romantic poet Lord Byron,
Lansdown was educated at Royal Russell School and University College London where he studied under novelist, Dan Jacobson.
From 1991-3, Lansdown taught English Literature at the University of Tampere in Finland. After a brief stint at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga, he spent twenty years teaching at James Cook University in Cairns [2] . In 2017, Lansdown took up the Chair Professorship of Modern English Literature and Culture at the University of Groningen. He is currently adjunct Professor of English Literature at the University of Tasmania. [3]
