Rick Allain (born May 20, 1969) is a former Canadian ice hockey coach. Allain's coaching career followed three seasons as a defenceman for the Maine Mariners/Providence Bruins franchise in the American Hockey League.

Coaching career

Allain made the transition to coaching in 1997, when he spent a season as assistant coach for the Guelph Storm in the junior-level Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The following season he accepted the head coach position with the Peterborough Petes of the OHL, where he coached for six seasons, 1998–2004. Under his command the Petes had a record of 191–179–38.

In 2004 Allain moved to Florida. In the summer of 2006 he assumed the position of head coach for the Jacksonville Barracudas of the Southern Professional Hockey League, a position he held until the conclusion of the 2007-08 SPHL season, in which the Barracudas requested a one-year suspension from the SPHL due to "not having a suitable venue in for SPHL hockey in North Florida. Allain was named as Hockey Operations Advisor to the Augusta RiverHawks on April 23, 2010. [2]

The Florida Seals were a minor league ice hockey franchise, a member of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). Originally based in Orlando, Florida, as the Orlando Seals, they later moved to Kissimmee, Florida, a suburb thirty miles south of Orlando in Osceola County. The Seals were one of eight minor league hockey teams purchased or founded by David Waronker starting in 2003.

Jeff Bes is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey player who played several seasons with the Laredo Bucks. Bes has played for many minor league teams such as the Dayton Bombers, Chicago Wolves, Mississippi Sea Wolves, Orlando Solar Bears, Jacksonville Lizard Kings, SaiPa and several other teams including the Dukes of Hamilton. He also coaches in the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Columbus Cottonmouths

The Columbus Cottonmouths were a professional ice hockey team based in Columbus, Georgia. The team is nicknamed the Snakes and played their home games at the Columbus Civic Center. In 2017, the team suspended operations after failing to find a new owner.

The Knoxville Ice Bears are a professional ice hockey team. The team competes in the Southern Professional Hockey League. They play their home games at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Ice Bears have made the playoffs in every season of their existence. In 2006, the Ice Bears defeated the Florida Seals to take their first President's Cup. The Ice Bears won back to back President's Cup Championships in the 2007–08 and 2008–09 seasons. On April 18, 2015, the Ice Bears defeated the Mississippi RiverKings 4–2 to sweep the 2015 SPHL Finals and win their 4th President's Cup.

Dallas Franklin Eakins is an American-Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player. He is the head coach of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously served as the head coach of the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL.

Macon Trax

The Macon Trax were a minor-league professional ice hockey team based in Macon, Georgia. They played in the low minor leagues Atlantic Coast Hockey League (2002–03), World Hockey Association 2 (2003–04) and Southern Professional Hockey League (2004–05), playing their home games at the Macon Coliseum. The team went to the championship finals in both the WHA2 and the SPHL, losing in each series to the league champion. This history prompted head coach Tommy Stewart to tell the Macon Telegraph that the team was "always a bridesmaid, never a bride."

The Augusta RiverHawks were a professional minor league ice hockey team based in Augusta, Georgia. They played in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) from 2010 to 2013. They played their home games at the James Brown Arena.

Maine Black Bears womens ice hockey

The Maine Black Bears women’s ice hockey team represents the University of Maine. The team plays their home games in Alfond Arena. The team's first year of play was in 1997–98. The Black Bears finished 6th in the 2019-2020 season, advancing to the semi-finals of the Hockey East tournament, before losing to the eventual champions Northeastern Huskies by a score of 1-3. The 2020 Hockey East women's ice hockey tournament was cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak, but Maine would not have qualified even if the tournament had been played. Hockey East announced plans in July 2020 to play the 2020-2021 hockey season, with an emphasis on league play.

The 2006–07 Southern Professional Hockey League season was the third season of the Southern Professional Hockey League. The regular season began October 27, 2006, and ended April 18, 2007, after a 56-game regular season and a six-team playoff. The Fayetteville FireAntz won their first SPHL championship.

John McFarland (ice hockey) Canadian ice hockey player

John McFarland is a Canadian former professional ice hockey winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Florida Panthers. He was taken first overall in the 2008 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection by the Sudbury Wolves. He was selected by the Panthers in the second round, 33rd overall, of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. McFarland retired from professional hockey on February 6, 2019. In 2021, he was hired as an assistant coach for the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs.

Mark DeSantis is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player. He was the head coach for the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL from midway into the 2015–16 season until the end of the 2016–17 season. He was the head coach of the Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League for the 2012–13 season and of the Brampton Beast of the Central Hockey League for the 2013–14 season.

Macon Mayhem

The Macon Mayhem are a Southern Professional Hockey League team based in Macon, Georgia, and play in the Macon Coliseum. The team was formerly the Augusta RiverHawks, who suspended operations for the 2013–14 season due to ice system failure at James Brown Arena.
