He was a Liberal member in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario who served from 1987 to 1997 and again from 2010 to 2018 who represented the ridings of Ottawa West and Ottawa West—Nepean. He was the Regional Chair of Ottawa-Carleton from 1997 to 2001 and was mayor of Ottawa from 2001 to 2006. He served in the provincial cabinets of Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne. The 2022 Tulsa municipal elections were held on August 23,2022. A top two runoff election was scheduled for November 8 if no candidate received a majority vote. All nine city council seats and the city auditor are elected to two year terms. The filing period was June 13–15. Incumbent Mayor G.T. Bynum would not be up for reelection until 2024. All nine city council seats will have contested elections. City Auditor Cathy Carter was re-elected without opposition.
The 2018 Barrie municipal election was held on October 22,2018,to elect a Mayor and 10 city councillors of the city of Barrie,Ontario,Canada. School trustees of the English-language Simcoe County District and Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Boards and the French-language Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir were also elected to represent the 10 wards of Barrie.
