Rick Finotti is an American football coach. He served as the head coach of the John Carroll football team from January 2017 until March 2022. [1] [2]
Finotti is a 1991 graduate of VASJ High School where he played for head coach Bill Gutbrod on the 1989 Ohio Division II state championship team. He attended Cleveland State University where earned his Business Administration degree and then completed his Post Baccalaureate Program from the College of Education.
Finotti served as an assistant coach at his alma mater Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School, as well as Benedictine High School and Mayfield High School. From 2005 until 2008, Finotti was the Wildcats' defensive coordinator. Those teams reached the Ohio State Playoffs in 2006, 2007 (state semifinals) and 2008. In his last year at Mayfield, Finotti was awarded Assistant Coach of the Year for Region III in the state of Ohio by the Ohio High School Coaches Association.
In six seasons at St. Edward (2009–14), Finotti amassed a record of 62-15 and guided the team to Ohio Division I state titles in 2010 and 2014. The 2010 state crown was the first in school history in the sport of football, with Finotti earning the in the state of Ohio as selected by the Associated Press. Both the 2010 and 2014 teams finished the season ranked #2 in the nation by the Max Preps Poll.
After the 2014 season, Finotti was recruited by Jim Harbaugh to be his first Director of Football Operations at Michigan. In that role, Finotti provided administrative assistance for Harbaugh with regard to NCAA rules interpretations as well as serving as liaison for all academic matters related to current and prospective football student athletes. He coordinated and participated in the "Summer Swarm" and Summer Camps in 2015.
The following season, Finotti was a defensive assistant coach, serving as part of defensive coordinator Don Brown's staff. In 2016, Michigan was tied for first in total defense and stood alone atop the nation in third down defense. The Wolverines were second in scoring defense. He worked primarily with the defensive line and run game planning, mentoring a unit that finished second in the country in sacks.
On January 23, 2017, Finotti was named the head coach of the John Carroll Blue Streaks in University Heights, Ohio. Finotti coached the Blue Streaks for five seasons, compiling a record of 33-11 before stepping down in March 2022. [3]

Robert Anthony Stoops is an American football coach who is the head coach for the Arlington Renegades of the United Football League (UFL). He was the head football coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1999 through the 2016 season, and on an interim basis during the 2021 Alamo Bowl. He led the Oklahoma Sooners to a record of 191–48 over his career. His 2000 Oklahoma Sooners football team won the 2001 Orange Bowl, which served as the BCS National Championship Game, and earned a consensus national championship. Since 2020, Stoops has been a head coach with the XFL, coaching the Renegades in 2020 and has been re-signed for 2023. Stoops' Renegades won the XFL Championship in 2023.
Richard Copeland Slocum is a former American football player and coach who is currently a special assistant to the president at Texas A&M University. He has also served as interim athletics director at the university from January through June 2019 and again from January through March 2023, and previously served as the head football coach there from 1989 to 2002. He has won more games as coach (123) than anyone else in Texas A&M Aggies football history. Slocum was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2012.
Greg Mattison is a former American football coach, and former player. He spent most of his career in college football as a defensive coach. Mattison coached at Michigan for eleven years, at Notre Dame for seven years, at Florida for three years, including the 2006 national championship team, and at Ohio State for two years. He also served as a defensive assistant for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL.
Nicholas Holt V is an American football coach who is currently the head coach of Skorpions Varese of the Federazione Italiana di American Football. Previously he was co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Purdue University for three seasons from 2017 to 2019. Before that he was the defensive coordinator at Western Kentucky from 2013 to 2016. Earlier in his career, Holt was defensive coordinator and assistant head coach of the Washington Huskies, defensive coordinator and defensive line coach of the USC Trojans, and head coach of the Idaho Vandals from 2004 to 2005.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers football program is a college football team that represents Western Kentucky University. The team competes at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level and represents the university as a member of Conference USA in the Eastern division. The 2002 team was the FCS national champion. The program has 13 conference championships and 7 FBS-level bowl game victories. The Hilltoppers play their home games at Houchens Industries–L. T. Smith Stadium in Bowling Green, Kentucky and the team's head football coach is Tyson Helton.
Scott Shafer is an American football coach and former player. He has served as the defensive coordinator for the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. Previously, he served as the head coach at Syracuse University until November 2015.
Ruffin Horne McNeill Jr. is an American football coach and former player who currently serves as the special assistant to the head coach at NC State University. He previously served as the assistant head coach and outside linebackers coach at the University of Oklahoma and the assistant head coach and defensive line coach at the University of Virginia. McNeill also served as the head coach of the East Carolina Pirates from 2010 to 2015. Before being named head coach of the Pirates, McNeill served the Texas Tech Red Raiders as an interim head coach, assistant head coach, special teams coordinator, and linebackers coach. On December 28, 2009, he was named interim head coach of the Red Raiders following the suspension and later firing of head coach Mike Leach. He served in the position until the hiring of Tommy Tuberville, who subsequently released him as defensive coordinator.
Jody Sears is an American college football coach and former player. He was the interim defensive coordinator for Nevada Wolf Pack. He previously served as the head coach at Weber State University from 2012 to 2013 and California State University, Sacramento from 2014 to 2018.

The John Carroll Blue Streaks football program is the intercollegiate American football team for John Carroll University located in the U.S. state of Ohio. They compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division III level and are members of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). The team was established in 1920 and plays its home games at the 5,416 seat Don Shula Stadium. As of the 2016 season, John Carroll has won 11 Conference titles, 4 in their current conference, the OAC. Drew Nystrom serves as the interim head football coach. During the 2022 season, John Carroll will celebrate its 100th season of football.
Gregory P. Roman is an American football coach who is the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). Previously, he was the offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens for four seasons and resigned from the team following the 2022 season. Prior to serving with the Baltimore Ravens, Roman was an assistant coach for the Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans and Carolina Panthers.
