A Republican,he served as a member of the city council for 14 years prior to his election as mayor. Dyer has also been a physical therapist for over 40 years and a professor of government at his alma mater,Regent University. He won the November 2018 election for mayor despite being outraised by his opponent Ben Davenport nearly 5 to 1.
Justin Marshall Wilson is an American politician who has been mayor of Alexandria,Virginia,since January 2,2019. He was previously on the Alexandria City Council,including a term as vice mayor from 2016 to 2019. He is a member of the Democratic Party. On December 1,2023,he announced that he would not seek re-election in 2024.
The mayor of Alexandria is elected in November every three years.
Elections are currently held every four years to elect the mayor of Chesapeake,Virginia.
