Riders of the Range, was a series of strip cartoons in the British comic, Eagle . It was created by Charles Chilton. [1] The artists who drew this series were Jack Daniel, Angus Scott, Frank Humphris [2] and Ferdinando Tacconi. [3]
The heroes of the series, set the American Old West, were straight-talking and straight-shooting Jeff Arnold, and his companion, the older, gruff Luke (surname?). Inseparable partners, the righted wrongs throughout the territory. Once, they very publicly fell out with each other, in order to flush out a gun-for-hire.
The series began as a radio broadcast in 1949. [4]
Journey Into Space is a BBC Radio science fiction programme written by BBC producer Charles Chilton. It was the last UK radio programme to attract a bigger evening audience than television. Originally, four series were produced, which was translated into 17 languages and broadcast in countries worldwide. Chilton later wrote three best-selling novels and several comic strip stories based upon the radio series.
Charles Chilton MBE was a British presenter, writer and producer who worked on BBC Radio. He created the 1950s radio serials Riders of the Range and Journey into Space, and also inspired the stage show and film Oh, What a Lovely War!.
