Riho Unt (born May 15, 1956, in Kose-Risti) is an Estonian animated film director, scenarist, artist. Unt was born in Kose-Risti, Estonia. He studied animation at the Tallinn Art Institute, graduating in 1980. After graduating, he worked as an animator at Tallinnfilm and Nukufilm. In 1989, he founded his own animation studio, Riho Unt Film.
Unt's first major film was Kapsapea (Cabbagehead), which was released in 1993. The film is a satirical look at Estonian society in the post-Soviet era. It was a critical and commercial success, and it won several awards, including the Grand Prix at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival. [1]
In 2001 he was awarded with Order of the White Star, V class. [2]

The Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana was instituted by the President of Estonia, Lennart Meri, on 16 May 1995 to honour the independence of the Estonian state.
The Adventures of Juku The Dog (1931) is the first Estonian experimental animated short film, written and directed by Voldemar Päts, produced by Aleksaner Teppor and animation by cartoonist Elmar Jaanimägi. For the film about 5000 drawings were made. Out of the total of 180 meters of shot film stock about 100m have survived. The soundtrack for the silent film was provided by Records of the Tormolen Co. Parlophon. In total 2 films in the series were attempted, the second one called The Adventures of Juku on Earth and Water was not completed and has not survived.

Unt is an Estonian surname, ultimately from an old Finno-Ugric topographic stem, and because of its abundance in place names throughout areas of Finno-Ugric speaking peoples, is believed to have meant something hydronymically essential. In many cases, the name may be a corruption of the Estonian word hunt, meaning "wolf", which is a rather common Estonian surname.

Captain Morten and the Spider Queen is a 2018 Estonian English-language stop motion animated film directed by Kaspar Jancis and co-directed by Riho Unt and Henry Nicholson, from a screenplay by Jancis, Mike Horelick, Paul Risacher, Robin Lyons and Andrew Offiler. An international co-production between the Estonian Nukufilm, Irish Telegael, Belgian Grid VFX and British Calon, the film had its world premiere at the Animafest Zagreb in Croatia on 5 June 2018, before being released in Estonian cinemas on 21 March 2019.
