Rila Mukherjee

Rila Mukherjee is a historian and author. [1] She is a professor at the University of Hyderabad. [2] [3] She is a scholar of Indian Ocean studies. [4]

Early life and education

Mukherjee's father, Ramkrishna Mukherjee, and mother, Prabhati Mukherjee, were academics. [5]

Mukherjee completed her PhD from the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences. [6]

Career

Mukherjee taught history at Jadavpur University from 1992 to 2007. [6] She joined the University of Hyderabad in 2007. [6] She is a fellow of the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta. [6] She is a staff member of the International Institute for Asian Studies. [7] She is the editor of the Asian Review of World Histories published by the Asian Association of World Historians. [8]
