The Dave Rimington Trophy is awarded to the player considered to be the best center in college football. Dave Rimington was a center who played at the University of Nebraska from 1979 to 1982.

Rimington is the namesake of the Rimington Trophy, which is awarded annually to the nation's top collegiate center.

Greg Eslinger is a former American college and professional football center who last played for the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europa. Richard Edward Glover is a former professional football player, a defensive tackle for the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL. He played college football at Nebraska under head coach Bob Devaney. Glover played high school football at Snyder High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. Glover recalls a time when his coach, Roy Corso, instructed each player to bring a garbage pail cover with them for after the game. When asked why, Corso responded it was for their own protection. Glover admits if it wasn't for those covers, they never would have made it past the losing team throwing rocks at the bus windows on the way out of the parking lot.
Brett Christopher Romberg is a former American football center who last played for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Miami, earned consensus All-American honors, and was recognized as the outstanding college center by receiving the Dave Rimmington Award. He was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2003, and has also played for the St. Louis Rams.
The 2007 Wake Forest Demon Deacons football team represented Wake Forest University during the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team began its season with an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) game on Saturday, September 1, 2007 against Boston College. John Faiman of Omaha, Nebraska was a University of Nebraska Cornhusker quarterback. A two-time All-American quarterback at Omaha South High School, Faiman played quarterback for the Huskers from 1960 to 1962, starting the first game of 1962 which also was the first game for new head coach Bob Devaney. Faiman was head coach of the Bellevue West High School Thunderbirds in Bellevue, Nebraska.
