North Yarmouth, officially the Town of North Yarmouth, is a town in Cumberland County, Maine, United States. North Yarmouth is included in the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine metropolitan New England city and town area. The population was 4,072 at the 2020 United States Census. It is part of the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Yarmouth is a town in Cumberland County, Maine, United States, twelve miles north of the state's largest city, Portland. When originally settled in 1636, as North Yarmouth, it was part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and remained part of its subsequent incarnations for 213 years. In 1849, twenty-nine years after Maine's admittance to the Union as the twenty-third state, it was incorporated as the Town of Yarmouth.
William Hutchinson Rowe was an American author and historian who lived in Yarmouth, Maine. The town's elementary school, built the year he died, is now named for him. In 1937, he published Ancient North Yarmouth and Yarmouth, Maine 1636–1936: A History, covering three centuries of the town's past. As of the early 21st century, it was still in print.

Dating to the late 17th century, it stands on Hillside Street, adjoining the North Yarmouth and Freeport Baptist Meetinghouse, a National Register of Historic Places property, on its southern side. It is the only burial site in the town attached to an extant church building.

Dating to 1731, it was the first public burial place in Old North Yarmouth, which was then part of the Province of Massachusetts Bay. It stands on Gilman Road, around 450 feet (140 m) northeast of the Ledge Cemetery, and almost directly across Gilman Road from the Cutter House, which was completed a year earlier.

The Second Falls are the second of four waterfalls in Yarmouth, Maine, United States. They are located on the Royal River, approximately 1.35 miles (2.17 km) from its mouth with inner Casco Bay at Yarmouth Harbor, and approximately 0.35 miles (0.56 km) upstream of the First Falls. The river appealed to settlers because its 45-foot rise in close proximity to navigable water each provided potential waterpower sites. As such, each of the four falls was used to power 57 mills between 1674 and the mid-20th century.
Gilman Road is a prominent street in Yarmouth, Maine, United States. It runs for about 1.7 miles (2.7 km) from Lafayette Street in the northwest to the Ellis C. Snodgrass Memorial Bridge at White's Cove in the southeast. At the bridge, which connects the Yarmouth mainland to Cousins Island, the road becomes Cousins Road.

The Mitchell garrison was an important building in what was, at the time, North Yarmouth, Province of Massachusetts Bay. Built in 1728 at the rear of today's Holy Cross Cemetery, adjacent to Riverside Cemetery on a bluff around 50 feet (15 m) above the Royal River, it was used as a stockade during the Indian wars. Despite its later usage, the term "garrison" refers to its architectural style.
