Riverside High School is the largest high school in Kanawha County, and is located in Belle, West Virginia, United States.
The school opened in 1999 as a result of the consolidation of DuPont High School (AAA) in Dupont City and East Bank High School (AA) in East Bank. Students from both of those former high schools, and from the Cedar Grove and Montgomery areas, attend the school. The school's attendance district runs from the Kanawha-Fayette county line to the Charleston city limits.
Riverside High offers a wide variety of courses and electives for grades 9–12. Required classes include Science 9 & 10, English 12 and Civics. Electives include AP Calculus, Forensic Science and Community Service.
Riverside High is a West Virginia AAA school. The school has had several successful sports teams in the 10+ years it has been in operation. They are wrestling, volleyball, track & field, softball, baseball, soccer, basketball, tennis, cross country, cheerleading, golf, and football.[ citation needed ]
The school has had two baton twirlers named Miss Kanawha Majorette at the Gazette-Mail Kanawha County Majorette and Band Festival. [2] [3] In 2016 the Warrior Band received a 1 at ratings. This is the highest score.
The school premises have a full-service branch of the Kanawha County Public Library, a Pioneer Federal credit union, and facilities operated by Cabin Creek Health Center.
On September 6, 2016, a special state committee voted to close Valley High School in nearby Fayette County and send some of its students to Riverside, which made Riverside a multi-county high school. Starting in August 2019, 135 Fayette County students choose to attend Riverside. [4]

The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission is the main governing body of high school sports, cheerleading, and marching bands in West Virginia, United States. For sports other than basketball schools are divided into three classes by total enrollment in grades 9-12: A, AA, and AAA, with schools re-classed every four years. Football, baseball, cheerleading, golf, softball, track, and volleyball are broken into these three classes. Soccer, Cross country, tennis, and wrestling are broken into two classes. Swimming is one class only. For basketball, schools are divided into four classes. Schools have the option of playing "up" one class in a particular sport.
The University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field is an 18,500-capacity stadium located in downtown Charleston, West Virginia, near the West Virginia State Capitol complex. It features a FieldTurf playing field for football and facilities for track and field competitions. The turf field is no longer suitable for soccer and lacrosse due to alterations to the track facilities.

The Gazette-Mail Kanawha County Majorette and Band Festival is an annual festival dedicated to the public high school marching bands and majorette corps in Kanawha County, West Virginia. It is the longest running music festival in West Virginia and is held at the University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field in Charleston at the end of September each year, typically the last Tuesday. The first event was held in 1947 and was attended by nearly 25,000 people. The event was originally sponsored by the Charleston Daily Mail newspaper, but is now sponsored by the Charleston Gazette-Mail after the Daily Mail merged with the Charleston Gazette in 2015. The event was not held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2023 festival was the event's 77th anniversary and the Festival Grand Champion was Sissonville High School.
Stonewall Jackson High School is a former high school in Kanawha County, West Virginia. It opened in 1940 and closed in 1989. It was located on the West Side of Charleston, West Virginia. In 1989, Stonewall Jackson High School and Charleston High School consolidated to become Capital High School. The building is now a middle school.

The school was consolidated with Stonewall Jackson High School on the west side of Charleston in 1989 to form Capital High School. Located on multiple parts throughout Charleston during its existence, the final site was on a parcel bordered by Washington Street East, Brooks Street and Lee Street, adjacent from CAMC General Hospital.

The West Virginia High School Football State Championships have been held since the early 1900s. The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission (WVSSAC) began its formal recognition of WV State Football Championships in 1937 with the state's sports writers' vote. The WVSSAC began a class system, dividing larger and smaller schools in 1947. WVSSAC official playoff games began in 1948. Prior to the WVSSAC's involvement in an official playoff, there were other systems in play. From 1916 to 1955 the WVSSAC was called the West Virginia Athletic Association.
East Bank High School was a public high school in East Bank, West Virginia in Kanawha County. Its teams competed as the Pioneers. It closed in 1999 in a consolidation with Dupont High School to form Riverside High School.
