Riverwood Academy Awards is an annual Kenyan film award founded by Mwaniki Mageria. [1] It was formed with a goal to recognize and celebrate local productions ,low budget film making and nurture talent by creating opportunities for training players in the industry on how to tell Kenyan stories in a Kenyan way. [2] [3] Riverwood Academy Awards started on 17 March 2014. [4] The first River wood Awards was held at Alliance Francaise and well known people in film industry attended also the former Cabinet Secretary of Sports, Culture and the Arts; Dr. Hassan Wario Arero was among the guest of honors who attended. Kalasha Film & TV Awards is an annual accolade presented by Kenya Film Commission with a goal to recognize and celebrate achievers in Kenya's TV and film industry. Entries into the award ceremony are films and TV series that have been aired on Kenyan television stations. The inaugural awards were held in 2010 and subsequent awards are held yearly at the last quarter of the year. The Awards would represent the five original branches of the Film making: Directors, Actors, Writers, Producers and Technicians. However, the Academy organizers will advise on whether or not to include more categories as long as they sufficiently represent the entire film industry.

Joey Muthengi Kenyan media personality

Joey Muthengi is a media personality and actress. Her entry into the Kenyan media industry came through being a radio personality on 98.4 Capital FM from 2009-2013 where she hosted and produced the wildly popular youth show 'Hits Not Homework. Most recently, as part of the new re-branded Power Breakfast show on Citizen TV, Joey Muthengi now co-hosts the daily show with Fred Indimuli and Willis Raburu. Petra Bockle known professionally as Petra, is a rapper, songwriter and singer of Kenyan and Seychellois descent. She performs in both Swahili and English, sometimes switching back and forth. She cites 2Pac, Eminem, MC Lyte and Lil' Kim as her musical influences.

Charles Bukeko was a Kenyan actor and comedian. He was known for portraying the titular character in the television series Papa Shirandula, which he also created and won the 2010 Kalasha Award for Best Actor in a TV Series. Bukeko also appeared in the 2012 film The Captain of Nakara. Bukeko died on July 18, 2020 from what seemed like COVID-19 symptoms.

Veronica Waceke is a Kenyan actress. She first appeared in the 2015 film Fundi-Mentals. For her performance in the film My Faith, Waceke won the Best East African Female Actress award at the Mashariki Film Festival. She portrayed Lesedi in the Kenya National Theatre's production of Walter Sitati's play; Necessary Madness 2 and Deliberate Contempt in 2019. Waceke was nominated for the 2014 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Award for the Best Actress in a television drama series 'Higher Learning'.

Mbeki Mwalimu is a Kenyan actress, producer and director with over 10 years of theater and TV experience. She began her career in Kenya's theatre scene in 2004 at Mbalamwezi Players before joining the Festival Of Creative Arts (FCA) in 2007 and has since become a household name as a stage and screen actor, production manager, stage director and producer.

William Nicholaus Lyimo, popularly known by his stage name Bill Nass, is a Tanzanian rapper of Chagga heritage, he was born in Tanga, Tanga Region. Morris Herbert Mugisha, commonly known as Morris Mugisha is a Ugandan actor, director, photographer, model and reality television star commonly known for representing Uganda to the third season of Big Brother Africa in 2008 and his debut directorial feature film Stain which received twelve at the Uganda Film Festival Awards, winning five and also won an award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2021.
