Riverwood Academy Awards

Riverwood Academy Awards is an annual Kenyan film award founded by Mwaniki Mageria. [1] It was formed with a goal to recognize and celebrate local productions, low budget film making and nurture talent by creating opportunities for training players in the industry on how to tell Kenyan stories in a Kenyan way. [2] [3] Riverwood Academy Awards started on 17 March 2014. [4] The first River wood Awards was held at Alliance Francaise and well known people in film industry attended also the former Cabinet Secretary of Sports, Culture and the Arts; Dr. Hassan Wario Arero was among the guest of honors who attended. [5]

Charles Bukeko was a Kenyan actor and comedian. He was known for portraying the titular character in the television series Papa Shirandula, which he also created and won the 2010 Kalasha Award for Best Actor in a TV Series. Bukeko also appeared in the 2012 film The Captain of Nakara. Bukeko died on July 18, 2020, from what seemed like COVID-19 symptoms. All of his comedy programmes were dominantly aired by the Kenyan Citizen Television, and none of his fans, both children and adults would dare to miss any of his series.

Veronica Waceke is a Kenyan actress. She first appeared in the 2015 film Fundi-Mentals. For her performance in the film My Faith, Waceke won the Best East African Female Actress award at the Mashariki Film Festival. She portrayed Lesedi in the Kenya National Theatre's production of Walter Sitati's play; Necessary Madness 2 and Deliberate Contempt in 2019. Waceke was nominated for the 2014 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Award for the Best Actress in a television drama series 'Higher Learning'.

Vincent Mwasia Mutua, known professionally as Chipukeezy, is a Kenyan comedian, radio presenter, and MC. He rose to prominence when he joined the cast of the Churchill Show in 2013. In 2018, Chipukeezy ventured into hosting his own show, the Chipukeezy Show, which aired on Ebru TV until 2019. Notably, in 2021 he was elected as the Vice Chairperson of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA).
