Rob Gerrand (born 16 October 1946) [1] is an Australian company director, marketing and management consultant, and a writer of science fiction. [2]

Director and management career

He is a director of Melbourne Primary Care Network (which operates the North Western Melbourne PHN), [3] SANE Australia and the Dax Centre. He chaired an AICD Director Nexus group – a confidential monthly series of meetings of directors from diverse boards to improve corporate governance—and now Chairs its successor, Director Next. [4]

Former board work includes: Chair of Parks Victoria, [5] Chair of Healthy Parks Healthy People Global, a director of the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, [4] the Mental Health Research Institute, Alfred Health, the Financial Planning Association of Australia (where he was Chair of the Audit and Risk Management Committee and the Strategic Marketing Committee), Melbourne City Marketing, the Melbourne Convention and Marketing Bureau, the Koorie Heritage Trust. He was founding President of the Monash Alumni Association, Chair of theatre company Theatreworks and was a member of the Executive Advisory Board of the Bond University School of Hotel, Resort and Tourism Management, and a member of the Advisory Board of Sakura Sky Media. Rob also heads the marketing and communication consultancy Gerrand & Associates, which gives strategic and business development advice for largely blue chip clients, and was a consulting partner to SenateSHJ. He is a former General Manager, Group Public Affairs at ANZ Banking Group, a former Director of the marketing and communications consultancy Turnbull Fox Phillips, and a former Corporate Affairs Manager at the Victorian Arts Centre. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute, has won the prestigious Golden World and Golden Quill international public relations awards, [5] and was awarded the PRIA Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding service to the public relations profession in Australia. He was appointed Adjunct Professor in Arts at Deakin University in 1994. [5]

He founded the Victorian Arts Centre Magazine in 1982, and was its Editor-in-Chief until 1987. Together with Bruce Gillespie and Carey Handfield he was a partner in the Australian publishing company Norstrilia Press, 1975–1985. The publishing house was revived in 2022.

Kenneth Baillieu Myer, was an American-born Australian patron of the arts, humanities and sciences; diplomat, administrator, businessman and philanthropist. He was a member of the notable Melbourne retailing Myer family. Myer made significant philanthropic and personal contributions to the development of major national institutions, most notably the Howard Florey Laboratories of Experimental Physiology and Medicine, the School of Oriental Studies at the University of Melbourne, the Victorian Arts Centre and the National Library of Australia. Norstrilia Press is a small press publishing house based in St. Kilda, Victoria, Australia. It was established in 1975 to coincide with Aussiecon, Australia's first world science fiction convention, by Rob Gerrand, Bruce Gillespie and Carey Handfield. Its primary aim was to publish science fiction, fantasy, critical essay collections and other genre works that were unlikely to see publication by other publishers.
