Robert E. Paaswell is an American civil engineer and the current Distinguished Professor at the Grove School of Engineering, City College of New York. [1] He previously served as the interim president of the City College of New York and CEO of the Chicago Transit Authority.
He graduated from Columbia College in 1956 and from Columbia School of Engineering and Applied Science in 1957. [2] He received a M.S from Columbia in 1962 and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University. [1]
From 1964 to 1982, he was a professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he helped establish the Center for Transportation Studies and Research. He was also the chair of SUNY-Buffalo's urban planning department. [1] From 1982 to 1986 he chaired the Urban Transportation Center at the University of Illinois. [3] From 1986 to 1989, he served as the CEO of the Chicago Transit Authority, the second largest public transportation system in the U.S. [4]
From 2009 to 2010, he was the interim president of the City College of New York. [5] From 1990, he has been a director of the University Transportation Research Center at City College of New York and is now director emeritus. [1]
He is married to Rosalind Paaswell, Chicago's first deputy commissioner for economic development and the couple have a son and a daughter. [6]

The General Motors streetcar conspiracy refers to the convictions of General Motors (GM) and related companies that were involved in the monopolizing of the sale of buses and supplies to National City Lines (NCL) and subsidiaries, as well as to the allegations that the defendants conspired to own or control transit systems, in violation of Section 1 of the Sherman Antitrust Act. This suit created lingering suspicions that the defendants had in fact plotted to dismantle streetcar systems in many cities in the United States as an attempt to monopolize surface transportation.
The Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York is a public research institution and postgraduate university in New York City. Roger Toussaint an American worker who led the December 20th, 2005 New York City transit strike which lasted three days and shut down bus and subway service in the city. Toussaint was the president of the Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 100 in New York City (NYC) from January 2001 through December 2009. TWU Local 100 represents the majority of hourly employees at the New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA), Manhattan and the Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority (MaBSTOA), MTA Bus and is the largest local transportation union in the USA. As a result of this strike, the union was fined heavily and Toussaint jailed briefly. The December 2005 strike was the first strike shutting down public transportation in NYC in 25 years.

She currently serves as the interim president of Hunter College. She is Dean Emerita of Macaulay Honors College of the City University of New York (CUNY), a University Professor at the CUNY Graduate Center, a faculty fellow of the Futures Initiative, and interim president of Hunter College.

He is also the Senior Independent Director of the board of National Express, a UK-based global operator of rail, bus, para-transit, and school bus services. Sander is Chairman Emeritus of the Regional Plan Association, Vice-Chairman of the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation, and on the Board of the Leo Baeck Institute. Sander is the founder of the Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management and Management at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University. He also co-founded the Empire State Transportation Alliance (ESTA).
Janette Sadik-Khan is a former commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation (2007–2013) and an advisor on transportation and urban issues. She works for Bloomberg Associates, a philanthropic consultancy established by former Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg that advises mayors around the world to improve the quality of life for their residents. She serves as chairperson for the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO), a coalition of the transportation departments of 40 large cities nationwide.

Macaulay Honors College, commonly referred to as Macaulay Honors College or Macaulay, is a highly selective honors college for students at the City University of New York (CUNY) system in New York City. The college awards full-tuition scholarships to all of its undergraduates. For the class of 2020, there were 6,272 applicants for an enrollment of 537 students. The average high school GPA and SAT for the class of 2020 were 94.1% and 1414, respectively.
