Robert Tinotenda Mugabe Jr (born 2 April 1992) is a Zimbabwean basketball player, fashion label owner, political campaigner, and the son of Robert Mugabe and Grace Mugabe.

Early life and education

Mugabe was born on 2 April 1992 as Robert Tinotenda Mugabe Jr [2] to Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe and First Lady Grace Mugabe. [3]

He studied in the United Arab Emirates. [4]

Career and politics

At the age of 25, Mugabe played for the Zimbabwe men's national basketball team. [4] He was previously part of the nation's under-18 team. [4]

Robert Mugabe, with his brother Chatunga, launched the xGx clothing label in Johannesburg, in December 2017. [3] [5] The brothers had previously launched Trip Life music-entertainment company. [5] Mugabe is also a brand ambassador for SVG fashion brand. [6]

In 2022, Mugabe was a member of Emmerson Mnangagwa's political campaign team. [7] He is a member of ZANU-PF political party. [8]

Personal life

In May 2022, Mugabe was admitted to a Singapore hospital after a lung collapse from pneumothorax. [7] In September the same year, he was injured after crashing his Range Rover vehicle in the Eastern Highlands. [9] In February 2023, Mugabe was arrested, facing allegations of property damage and assault of a police officer. [10] The prosecution was paused soon after a court appearance in Harare. [11]

Mugabe is noted for his lavish lifestyle. [12] At times, he has lived in South Africa. [13] [14]

Before that he was Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment, and Minister of the Environment, Water and Climate. In October 2020, the Zimbabwe government sought Kasukuwere's extradition after issuing a warrant for his arrest. It was revealed that Kasukuwere was among loyalists of former President Robert Mugabe who fled to South Africa before their criminal trials could be completed.

Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is a Zimbabwean politician who has served as President of Zimbabwe since 24 November 2017. A member of ZANU–PF and a longtime ally of former President Robert Mugabe, he held a series of cabinet portfolios and was Mugabe's Vice-President until November 2017, when he was dismissed before coming to power in a coup d'état. He secured his first full term as president in the disputed 2018 general election. Mnangagwa has been re-elected in 2023 with 52.6% of the votes. Nelson Chamisa came in second with 44%.

Jabulani Sibanda is the former chairman of Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA), an organisation originally comprising all the veterans that fought during the Second Chimurenga or Zimbabwe War of Liberation which ended in 1979, although he took no part in the war. Under his leadership the ZNLWVA mobilised War Veterans and other ZANU PF sympathisers in the forced and often violent appropriation of farmland they claimed to have been stolen during colonisation. He was expelled from ZANU-PF in 2014 for being part of the Tsholotsho Declaration.

Grace Ntombizodwa Mugabe is a Zimbabwean entrepreneur, politician and the widow of the late President Robert Mugabe. She served as the First Lady of Zimbabwe from 1996 until her husband's resignation in November 2017, a week after he was ousted from power. Starting as a secretary to Mugabe, she rose in the ranks of the ruling ZANU–PF party to become the head of its Women's League and a key figure in the Generation 40 faction. At the same time, she gained a reputation for privilege and extravagance during a period of economic turmoil in the country. She was given the nickname Gucci Grace due to her extravagance. She was expelled from the party, with other G40 members, during the 2017 Zimbabwean coup d'état.

Sabina Gabriel Mugabe was a Zimbabwean politician. She was the younger sister of the former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe.

"Baba Jukwa" is a self-given nickname for a Zimbabwean political online blogger. He is believed to be part of the Vapanduki crew, a group which includes disgruntled ZANU-PF insiders, service chiefs and other civil servants in Zimbabwe. Most of his writings are brought out via his Facebook page, which boasts over 400,000 followers.

Generation 40 (G40) was a faction of the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF). The G40 was an informal group of ZANU–PF politicians working on generation change by replacing the older officials of the party. The group promoted itself as the younger, savvy, and well educated ZANU–PF members. It was said to be led by Jonathan Moyo and ZANU–PF political commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere but fronted by Grace Mugabe, the former First Lady of Zimbabwe.

Patrick Zhuwao is a Zimbabwean businessman, farmer, and politician. He served as Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare between October and November 2017. He was expelled from the ruling ZANU–PF party during the 2017 Zimbabwean coup d'état.

Tabetha Kanengoni-Malinga is a Zimbabwean businesswoman and politician. She was the Minister of State in the Office of Second Vice-President of Zimbabwe Phelekezela Mphoko from 2015 to 2018. Previously, she served as Deputy Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture from 2013 to 2015. She was the Member of Parliament for Mazowe Central from 2013 to 2018. Jason Zhuwao is a Zimbabwean politician. He is a former ZANU–PF Director for Youth Affairs and son of former Minister of Youth Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Patrick Zhuwao and nephew to former Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe. Zhuwao served under his father's ministry youth advisory board and held different government and ZANU PF portfolios.

Callistus Dingiswayo Ndlovu was a Zimbabwean academic, diplomat, and politician. After Zimbabwe's independence in 1980, he was a member of the House of Assembly from 1980 to 1985 and served as a senator from 1985 to 1990. He left ZAPU and joined the ruling ZANU–PF party in 1984.
