Carleton University is an English-language public research university in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1942 as Carleton College, the institution originally operated as a private, non-denominational evening college to serve returning World War II veterans. Carleton was chartered as a university by the provincial government in 1952 through The Carleton University Act, which was then amended in 1957, giving the institution its current name. The university is named after the now-dissolved Carleton County, which included the city of Ottawa at the time the university was founded.

During his 18 seasons at Carleton, he also led the Ravens to 11 OUA championships — the most by any coach in conference history. Smart has also served as an assistant coach with the Canadian men's national team on multiple occasions, working with former NBA player Leo Rautins, and Jay Triano.
Professor Janaka Ruwanpura is a Professor of Project Management at the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary. He successfully completed his term as the Vice Provost and Associate Vice-President Research (International) of the University of Calgary, Canada from Sept. 1, 2020 until March 29, 2024. Competing as the women's ice hockey team of Carleton University, the Ravens play in the Quebec Student Sports Federation (RSEQ), as part of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's ice hockey championship. Constance Crompton is an associate professor in the Department of Communications at the University of Ottawa, where she is also the director of the Humanities Data Lab. Crompton holds the position of Canada Research Chair in Digital Humanities, is vice-president (English) of the Canadian Society for Digital Humanities, and is an associate director of the Digital Humanities Summer Institute. In 2023, Crompton was elected to the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists.

He has served as a founding director of the Carleton Centre for Community Innovation at Carleton University.
