Clarence Edward "Big House" Gaines Sr. was an American college men's basketball coach with a 47-year coaching career at Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Among his numerous honors for his achievements, he is one of the few African Americans to be inducted as a coach into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Robert Winston was an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Syracuse University in 1890 and at the University of Georgia in 1894, compiling a career record of 13–4. He was the first coach of the Georgia Bulldogs football team to receive a salary. Winston was British and had previously coached the Blackheath Harriers rugby team in England. He was also a "bantam boxer" and trainer for an athletic club in London, before coming to the United States in 1883. After moving to the United States, Winston also helped train other American football teams at Yale University (1883–1888), Amherst College (1889), and the University of Rochester (1890), Williams College, Princeton University and other New England based teams. Winston also worked at the Berkeley Athletic club in New York. After Yale, Winston also oversaw the building of a gymnasium in Townsend, Washington in 1887.
The 1894 Georgia Bulldogs football team represented the Georgia Bulldogs of the University of Georgia in the 1894 college football season and completed the year with a 5–1–record. In 1894, the Bulldogs played their first game against South Carolina, won 40–0, and started a rivalry that continues to the present day. Georgia also secured its first victory over Auburn. This was the team's one and only season under the guidance of head coach Robert Winston. Winston was the first paid coach for the Bulldogs.
Winston Moss is a former American football linebacker and coach who currently serves as head coach and general manager of the Los Angeles Wildcats. He was formerly the assistant head coach and linebackers coach for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round of the 1987 NFL Draft. Moss attended Miami Southridge High School and was an all-state linebacker. He played college football at Miami.

Robert Lee Massey is an former American football coach and former player. He is the interim head football coach at Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Massey played professionally as a cornerback for five teams in the National Football League (NFL) from 1989 to 1997. Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin described Massey as the toughest cornerback he faced during his career. Massey was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1992. He played college football at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. Massey served as the interim head football coach at Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina from 2005 to 2006 and as the head football coach Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina from 2012 to 2015. He was fired from his position at Shaw on December 10, 2015.

Kermit Blount is an American football coach. He is the head football coach at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina, a position he has held since the 2015 season. Blount was the head football coach at Winston-Salem State University from 1993 to 2009 and at Delaware State University from 2011 to 2014.
