Robert Francis Winston (born 28 November 1979) [1] is an Irish jockey who competes in Flat racing.
He won the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes on Magical Romance in 2004. [2] In 2016, he won the Lester Award for flat ride of the year. [3] After a gap of thirteen years, he added a second Group 1 victory in the 2017 British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot on Librisa Breeze, the biggest win of his career. [4]
Winston retired in September 2019, having ridden 1,627 winners in Britain over his 23-year career [1] In September 2021 he came out of retirement to resume his career and rode his first winner since retirement on 11 October 2021. [5]
Johnny Murtagh is an Irish flat racing trainer and former jockey from Bohermeen, near Navan, Kells, County Meath. As a jockey he won many of the major flat races in Europe, including all the Irish Classics, all the Group 1 Races at Royal Ascot, The Derby, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes and Europe's biggest race the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He was also Irish flat racing Champion Jockey five times. As a trainer, based at stables near Kildare, he has saddled a winner at Royal Ascot and an Irish Classic winner.
Lanfranco "Frankie" Dettori, is an Italian jockey who was based in England for a career spanning over 35 years. He was British flat racing Champion Jockey three times and rode the winners of 287 Group 1 races including 23 winners of the British Classic Races. His most celebrated achievement was riding all seven winners on British Festival of Racing Day at Ascot Racecourse on 28 September 1996.
Richard Hughes is a retired Irish jockey and current racehorse trainer who is based at Lambourn in Berkshire, England. Born in Dublin, he is the son of successful National Hunt trainer, Dessie Hughes. Hughes became British flat racing Champion Jockey in 2012 and retained that title in 2013, when he rode more than 200 winners in the season, and again in 2014.
Sir Mark Prescott, 3rd Baronet, is an English race horse trainer with over 2000 winners to his name, including Alpinista, winner of the 2022 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He is based at Heath House Stables, a historic 50-box yard at the bottom of Warren Hill in Newmarket.
William Buick is a Norwegian-British flat jockey. He shared the champion apprentice jockey title in 2008 with David Probert and won the Lester Award for Apprentice Jockey of the Year in 2007 and 2008. From 2010 to 2014 he was stable jockey to John Gosden. In 2015 he signed with Godolphin. Buick won his first Group1 race in Canada in 2010 and since then has won Group 1 races in England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. He has won five British Classic Races: the St Leger in 2010, 2011 and 2021, the Derby in 2018 and the 2000 Guineas in 2024.
Paul Hanagan is a Classic-winning British flat racing jockey. Hanagan was twice been crowned champion jockey on the flat in Britain, riding 165 winners in 2011 to defend his title, having won his first title with 191 winners in 2010. Over a career spanning 25 years, he won a total of ten Group 1 races including the Epsom Oaks. From 1999 to 2022 he rode for the Malton-based trainer Richard Fahey, except for a four-and-a-half year break when he was retained by owner Sheikh Hamdan. He announced his retirement from race riding in August 2023.
Mayson is a British Thoroughbred racehorse who won the July Cup by five lengths in 2012. He is owned by David Armstrong and Cheveley Park Stud and trained by Richard Fahey.
Kyllachy is a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. Named after a Scottish grouse moor, he was a specialist sprinter who was usually held up for a late run. His early form was promising but unremarkable as he won two minor races from seven starts in his first two seasons. As a four-year-old in 2002 he showed exceptional improvement and established himself as arguably the best sprinter in Europe. He won four races of increasing importance including the Palace House Stakes and the Temple Stakes before recording his biggest win in the Nunthorpe Stakes. He sustained an injury in the last-named race and was retired from racing shortly afterwards. He later became a very successful sire: his progeny have included the Cartier Champion Sprinter Sole Power.
Airwave is a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. Competing almost exclusively in sprints she won six of her twenty-two starts in a racing career which lasted from July 2002 until June 2005. She was one of the fastest juveniles of her generation in 2002 when she won the Firth of Clyde Stakes and then recorded an upset victory over Russian Rhythm in the Cheveley Park Stakes. In the following year she won the Temple Stakes and was placed in the Golden Jubilee Stakes, July Cup and Haydock Sprint Cup. She was not as good as a four-year-old, but did win the Land O'Burns Fillies' Stakes and finished second in the Diadem Stakes. She was sold to Irish interests and ran three times as a five-year-old, winning the Ridgewood Pearl Stakes before being retired to begin a second career as a broodmare.
Magical Romance is an Irish-bred British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. In a racing career which lasted from June 2004 until September 2005, she won three of her nine races. As a two-year-old in 2004, she won two minor races but then recorded a 40/1 upset victory in Group One Cheveley Park Stakes. She failed to win or place in four starts in 2005, and was retired from racing at the end of that year. In 2006, she was bought for 4.6 million guineas, a world- record price for a broodmare sold at suction.
Lady Aurelia is a retired American Thoroughbred racehorse. After winning a race on dirt in the United States, she was sent to race on turf in Europe and proved herself as one of the leading two-year-old fillies of her generation. At Royal Ascot in June she produced a very impressive performance to win the Queen Mary Stakes and then traveled to France to win the Prix Morny. Although she was beaten on her final appearance in the Cheveley Park Stakes she was named Cartier Champion Two-year-old Filly for the 2016 season. In 2017 she won the Giant's Causeway Stakes in America before returning to Britain to win the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. She then finished second in the Nunthorpe Stakes before finishing tenth in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.
Twilight Son is a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. Bred and owned by Caroline and Godfrey Wilson and trained by Henry Candy he was a specialist sprinter who won six of his ten races in a racing career which lasted from August 2014 until October 2016. He won both of his races as a two-year-old and his first three races as a three-year-old including a victory in the Group One Betfred Sprint Cup. As a four-year-old in 2016 he recorded his second Group One success when he defeated a strong international field in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. He was retired at the end of the season to become a breeding stallion.

Harry Angel is an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. He showed very good form as a two-year-old, winning the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes on his second racecourse appearance. In the following year he emerged as one of the best sprinters in Europe with wins in the Sandy Lane Stakes, July Cup and Haydock Sprint Cup. In 2018 he won the Duke of York Stakes but was injured when he trapped a leg in the starting gate at Royal Ascot.
Damson is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She showed her best form as a two-year-old in 2004 when she was unbeaten in her first four races including the Fillies' Sprint Stakes, Queen Mary Stakes and Phoenix Stakes. On her only subsequent start that year she finished third in the Cheveley Park Stakes. At the end of the year she was rated the second-best filly of her generation in Europe. She failed to reproduce her juvenile form in three starts as a three-year-old in 2005 and was retired from racing. She has had some success as a broodmare.
Daniel "Danny" Tudhope is a Group 1-winning Scottish jockey. He is stable jockey to David O'Meara, for whom he has won most of his major races.

Oisin Murphy is an Irish jockey based in the United Kingdom who competes in flat racing. He has won two British Classic and a number of Group 1 races. He was British Champion Jockey in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
The Tin Man is a British Thoroughbred racehorse. A specialist sprinter, he did not race as a juvenile but showed promise as a three-year-old in 2015 when he won three minor races. He emerged as a top-class performer in the following year, taking the Leisure Stakes and the Hackwood Stakes before winning the Group 1 British Champions Sprint Stakes. He went on to win the Diamond Jubilee Stakes in 2017 before taking a second Leisure Stakes and the Haydock Sprint Cup in 2018. He failed to win in his last two seasons but did finish second in the 2019 Sprint Cup. The Tin Man retired from racing after sustaining a leg injury in 2021.
Sands of Mali, is a French-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. In a career which ran from July 2017 to July 2020 he ran eighteen times and won five of his races. In 2017 he was one of the best two-year-old colts in Europe, winning two races including the Gimcrack Stakes. In the following spring, he established himself as a top class sprinter, taking the Prix Sigy and Sandy Lane Stakes before being narrowly defeated in the Commonwealth Cup. He ran poorly in late summer, but returned to form in autumn to record his biggest win in the British Champions Sprint Stakes. He failed to win in six races in 2019 and 2020 and was retired to stud in August 2020.
