Rockwatch is the junior club of the Geologists' Association, established in November 2001. Although it operates under the auspices of the Geologists' Association, it functions independently from the parent body.
Rockwatch publishes a full colour magazine three times a year. Each issue is full of geological articles, many of them cutting-edge science, as well as activities and puzzles.
Field trips take place throughout the UK, and give members the chance to meet eminent geologists, as well as collect fossils and minerals. [1] Parents/guardians are required to accompany their children.

The Geological Society of London, known commonly as the Geological Society, is a learned society based in the United Kingdom. It is the oldest national geological society in the world and the largest in Europe, with more than 12,000 Fellows.
The Royal School of Mines comprises the departments of Earth Science and Engineering, and Materials at Imperial College London. The Centre for Advanced Structural Ceramics and parts of the London Centre for Nanotechnology and Department of Bioengineering are also housed within the building. The school as an organisation no longer exists, having been incorporated into the Faculty of Engineering since 2003. Today the Royal School of Mines refers to both the departments associated with the former school, and the Grade II listed Edwardian building by Sir Aston Webb, which is viewed as a classic of academic architecture. The building and relevant student union still carry the name.

Terra rossa is a well-drained, reddish, clayey to silty soil with neutral pH conditions and is typical of the Mediterranean region. The reddish color of terra rossa is the result of the preferential formation of hematite over goethite. This soil type typically occurs as a discontinuous layer that ranges from a few centimeters to several meters in thickness that covers limestone and dolomite bedrock in karst regions. The high internal drainage and neutral pH conditions of terra rossa are a result of the karstic nature of the underlying limestone and dolomite. Terra rossa is also found associated with Mediterranean climates and karst elsewhere in the world.

The South Wales Geologists' Association (SWGA) is an affiliated local group of the Geologists' Association. It was founded in 1960 and registered as a charity in 1996.
Randolph Wilson ("Bill") Bromery was an American educator and geologist, and a former Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Amherst (1971–79). While Chancellor, Bromery established the W.E.B. Du Bois Archives at the University of Massachusetts, and was one of the initiators of the Five College Consortium. He was also President of the Geological Society of America, and has made numerous contributions as a geologist and academic. During World War II, he was a member of the Tuskegee Airmen, flying missions in Italy.
Catherine Alice Raisin was one of the most important early female geologists in Britain. Her research was primarily in the field of microscope petrology and mineralogy. She was the head of the geology department at Bedford College for Women, in London for 30 years, and strived for women's equality in education. Raisin was the first woman in Britain to lead a university geology department. She was also the head of the botany department at the Bedford College for Women.
Albert Walter Bally was an American geologist, previously the Harry Carothers Wiess Professor of Emeritus at Rice University. He died in July 2019.
The Pacific Section of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, or PSAAPG, is a non-profit geological society whose members are interested in the geology of the West Coast of the United States. Originally founded in 1924 as the Pacific Society of Petroleum Geologists, this organization today is one of the regional divisions of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). Although mainly geologists associated with the petroleum industry join the society, its membership also includes environmental geologists, educators, geophysicists and engineers who find membership in the organization benefits their personal interests and/or careers.
Robbie Rice Gries is an American petroleum geologist who was the first female president (2001–02) of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), president of the Geological Society of America (2018–19), and founder of Priority Oil & Gas LLC. Gries is noted to have made some influential progress for women in this field. In 2017, Gries published the book titled Anomalies—Pioneering Women in Petroleum Geology: 1917-2017. Gries is recognized as an unconventional thinker when approaching geological concepts and applications.
