Rodrigo "Comprido" Medeiros (born January 11, 1977) is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and submission grappler. Medeiros is a two-time openweight World Jiu-Jitsu Champion. Medeiros has been a Jiu-Jitsu instructor to many notable mixed martial arts fighters such as former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, former Bellator Heavyweight Champions Cole Konrad, Pat Barry, and Chris Tuchscherer.
Comprido is one of the founding members of Team Brasa.[ citation needed ] Comprido appeared on the instructional DVD The Science of Jiu-Jitsu II with Demian Maia.
Comprido is often confused with the Carlson Gracie Sr Black Belt leader of the BJJ Revolution team Rodrigo Medeiros.[ citation needed ]
He currently resides in the Chicago area and owns and teaches at Comprido BJJ, a Brasa school, in Bloomingdale, Illinois.
Comprido founded the Brasa Jiu Jitsu camp in Buzios, Rio de Janeiro along with friend and student Felipe Costa.
Comprido has been one of the first elite Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitors to speak out against the widespread use of steroids at the top level of the sport. [1]
On August 9, 2014, Comprido fought Saulo Ribeiro in a grappling match in Metamoris IV. The fight ended in a draw.
Comprido earned the first ever submission in an IBJJF absolute black belt match when he defeated Roberto "Roleta" Magalhaes in the 1999 World Championships Finals. The 18-second fight is also the fastest submission in a black belt world championship final.
Comprido earned seven Brazilian jiu-jitsu world titles - 4 in the IBJJF and 3 in the CBJJO - between 1999 and 2006.
In 2006, he began training UFC fighter Brock Lesnar and opened his own academy in 2011 under Lesnar's encouragement. It was at that time he became a spokesman for Greatmats, an online retailer of martial arts mats. [2]

Vinicius "Vinny" de Magalhães is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who competes in the Light heavyweight division. A professional competitor since 2006, he was a finalist in The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir and has fought five times within two stints with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is the former Titan FC Light heavyweight Champion, M-1 Global Light heavyweight Champion and is also a former jiu-jitsu no-gi world champion and ADCC champion. Magalhães was inducted into the ADCC Hall of Fame in 2024.
André Luiz Leite Galvão is a Brazilian grappler and professional mixed martial artist. A 4th degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under Fernando "Tererê" Augusto as well as a Judo black belt, Galvão is one of the most decorated athletes ever, having won most major international tournaments multiple times.
Alliance is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu association. Alliance was founded by Romero "Jacare" Cavalcanti and his students: Fabio Gurgel, Alexandre Paiva, and Fernando Gurgel. Alliance Global headquarters is in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Alliance Martial Arts Academy, where "Jacare" is the head instructor. Since 2014, in addition to winning several major tournaments, Luukkonen reached the world championship final three more times, winning gold again in 2018.
Laurence Cousin Fouillat is a French submission grappler and third degree black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor and instructor. Considered a pioneer in the sport, Cousin is regarded as the first European female to receive a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. In 2005 she won the CBJJO World Jiu-Jitsu Cup and medalled at the IBJJF World Championship taking place in Rio de Janeiro. In 2007 Cousin became the first woman from outside Brazil to become IBJJF World jiu-jitsu champion.
