Biography

Roger Nair worked as an intern on the sets of Hollywood films in Vancouver, and it was there that he most probably developed an interest for film making as a profession. Later, he set up a film production support company in Toronto and Vancouver in 1995 and then gradually moved from line production to a full production House by 2001. [1]

Supari (2003) was Nair's first film under his own banner. Kabhi bhi Kahin bhi followed and then a launch of Distribution Company: Lionheart distribution with the distribution and world premiere of the film GURU in Toronto.The mayor of Toronto David Miller and Minister of immigration for Canada Jason Kenney attended the event which saw Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, A.R. Rahman, Mani Ratnam, Madhavan Ranganathan walk the carpet for this film. [2] This is where Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan got engaged when Abhishek Bachchan proposed to Aishwarya at the premiere of this film that was held at Elgin theatre for the launch of Lionheart Distribution. [3]

A descendant of Dewan Mokham Chand, Nair is a Human Rights Activist and is currently serving as the chairman of South Asians of Human Rights Association (SAHRA). [4] [5]

Nair serves as the Vice chair of Ontario Creates (Ontario Media Development Corporation). [6] since being appointed by the Government of Ontario in October 2021. [7] Ontario Creates is an agency of the provincial government whose mandate is to be a catalyst for economic development, investment and collaboration in Ontario’s creative industries including the music, book, magazine, film, television and interactive digital media sectors, both domestically and internationally. Prior to that Nair served as the executive member of the Toronto Film Board from 2011 to 2019 [8] The board provided advice to the Mayor and City Council on matters of concern and gives voice to Toronto's interests on local, provincial and national issues. [9]

The score and soundtrack for the film was composed by A. R. Rahman. Incidentally, Mithun Chakraborty also previously acted in a 1989 film of the same name in Hindi, as well as a 2003 film of the same name in Bengali.

It stars Aishwarya Rai and Irrfan Khan, with Shabana Azmi, Jackie Shroff, Atul Kulkarni and Chandan Roy Sanyal in supporting roles. It is a remake of the 2007 South Korean film Seven Days. The film was released on 9 October 2015. The film marked Aishwarya's return on screen after a five-year break.

Sarbjit is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language biographical drama film about Sarabjit Singh, who was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1991 and then consequently spent 22 years in prison for alleged terrorism and spying. This is the third installment of the Sarkar franchise and the continuation to the events of Sarkar Raj. A remake of the 2000 Belgian film Everybody's Famous!, it stars Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles. The film follows Kapoor as the titular character, the middle-aged father of a young, aspiring, and overweight teenage girl whom he pushes to be a singer. He kidnaps a famous soloist to make way for his daughter to become a star.

<i>Manmarziyaan</i> 2018 Indian film

Manmarziyaan, released internationally as Husband Material, is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy drama film directed by Anurag Kashyap and written by Kanika Dhillon. Starring Abhishek Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles. The film is jointly produced by Phantom Films and Aanand L. Rai's Colour Yellow Productions.
