Roger Salmon came to prominence as an investment banker and became the first Director of Passenger Rail Franchising, [1] who presided over the creation of the franchising system for the newly privatised British railway system. He is the father of Felix Salmon. He became bursar of King's College, Cambridge, was suspended in 2004, but the college was forced to pay compensation after conceding 'that Roger Salmon "acted with propriety and complete integrity" throughout his time at the college'. [2]

Sir Roger Penrose is a British mathematician, mathematical physicist, philosopher of science and Nobel Laureate in Physics. He is Emeritus Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford, an emeritus fellow of Wadham College, Oxford, and an honorary fellow of St John's College, Cambridge, and University College London.
Campbell River or Wiwek̓a̱m is a city in British Columbia on the east coast of Vancouver Island at the south end of Discovery Passage, which lies along the 50th parallel north along the important Inside Passage shipping route. Campbell River has a population of 35,138 and has long been touted as "the Salmon Capital of the World". Campbell River and Region is in close proximity to the neighboring communities of Quadra and the Discovery Islands, Sayward, Oyster River, Gold River, Tahsis and Zeballos.
The Gupta script was used for writing Sanskrit and is associated with the Gupta Empire of India, which was a period of material prosperity and great religious and scientific developments. The Gupta script was descended from Brāhmī and gave rise to the Nāgarī, Śāradā and Siddhaṃ scripts. These scripts in turn gave rise to many of the most important scripts of India, including Devanāgarī, the Gurmukhī script for Punjabi, the Bengali-Assamese script and the Tibetan script.
George Salmon FBA FRS FRSE was a distinguished and influential Irish mathematician and Anglican theologian. After working in algebraic geometry for two decades, Salmon devoted the last forty years of his life to theology. His entire career was spent at Trinity College Dublin.
Timothy James Salmon, nicknamed "King Fish", is an American former professional baseball player and current television sports color commentator. He played his entire career in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1992 to 2006 with the California Angels as an outfielder and designated hitter. Salmon was an integral member of the Anaheim Angels team that won the 2002 World Series. He was inducted into the California Angels Hall of Fame in 2015.
Derek Roy Taunt was a British mathematician who worked as a codebreaker during World War II at Bletchley Park.
The Victoria Salmon Kings were a professional ice hockey team based in Victoria, British Columbia, and members of the ECHL. The team debuted in the 2004–05 season and folded after the 2010–11 season. The Chilliwack Bruins of the major junior Western Hockey League relocated to become the Victoria Royals and the two teams could not simultaneously operate. They played at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. For most of their history, they were affiliated with the Vancouver Canucks.
A bursar is a professional financial administrator in a school or university. In the United States, bursars usually exist only at the level of higher education or at private secondary schools. In Australia, Great Britain, and other countries, bursars are common at lower levels of education.
Sir Travers Twiss QC FRS was an English jurist. He had a distinguished academic and legal career culminating in his appointment as Queen's Advocate-General. Twiss was particularly noted for his contribution to the theory of international law. He was widely consulted, and was asked to draw up the constitution of the Congo Free State. A prolific author, Twiss wrote many influential textbooks on legal matters.
The Director of Passenger Rail Franchising was a statutory office in the United Kingdom created in 1993 by the Railways Act 1993 and usually called the Franchising Director. It lasted from 5 November 1993 until 31 January 2001 when it was superseded by the Strategic Rail Authority.

Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge was established in 1997 to conserve, protect and enhance the abundance and diversity of native plant, fish and wildlife species and the ecosystems on which they depend throughout the 7,200,000-acre (29,000 km2) Connecticut River watershed. The watershed covers large areas of Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut. It contains a great diversity of habitats, notably: northern forest valuable as nesting habitat for migrant thrushes, warblers and other birds; rivers and streams used by shad, salmon, herring, the endangered shortnose sturgeon and other migratory fishes; and an internationally significant complex of high-quality tidal fresh, brackish and salt marshes.

George Williams, FRCP was an English physician and librarian. He was a fellow of Corpus Christi College, Oxford from 1781 until his death and he served at various times as the college bursar, vice-president and garden master. He was Sherardian Professor of Botany at the University of Oxford from 1796 to 1834 and Librarian of the Radcliffe Camera from 1810 to 1834.
