Bajirao I, born as Visaji, was the 7th Peshwa of the Maratha Confederacy.
Baji Rao II was the 13th and the last Peshwa of the Maratha Confederacy. He governed from 1795 to 1818. He was installed as a puppet ruler by the Maratha nobles, whose growing power prompted him to flee his capital Poona and sign the Treaty of Bassein (1802) with the British. This resulted in the Second Anglo-Maratha War (1803–1805), in which the British emerged victorious and re-installed him as the titular Peshwa. In 1817, Baji Rao II joined the Third Anglo-Maratha War against the British, after they favoured the Gaekwad nobles in a revenue-sharing dispute. After suffering several battle defeats, the Peshwa surrendered to the British, and agreed to retire in return for an estate at Bithoor and an annual pension.

Kashibai was the first wife of Bajirao I, the Peshwa to the fourth Maratha Chhatrapati (Emperor) Shahu. With Bajirao, she had four children, including Balaji Baji Rao and Ragunath Rao. Balaji succeeded Bajirao as Peshwa upon the latter's death in 1740. Also following Bajirao's death, Kashibai fostered her step-son, Shamsher Bahadur, whose mother was Bajirao's second wife, Mastani.

Produced by Sunjoy Waddhwa and Commal Waddhwa under their banner Sphere Origins, the series is an official adaptation of Star Vijay's Tamil series Pandian Stores. The series starred Kinshuk Mahajan, Shiny Doshi, Akshay Kharodia, Kanwar Dhillon, Mohit Parmar, Alice Kaushik, Simran Budharup and Kruttika Desai. Since July 2023, it stars Priyanshi Yadav and Rohit Chandel as the second generation leads, with Kruttika Desai.

Kashibai Bajirao Ballal is an Indian historical drama based on Kashibai. It premiered on 15 November 2021 on Zee TV with Aarohi Patel as Young Kashi Bai and Venkatesh Pandey as Young Bajirao. On 21 March 2022, the story moved on several years and Riya Sharma portrays the lead role of Kashibai opposite Rohit Chandel who essays the role of Bajirao. It went off air on 19 August 2022, after completing 201 episodes.

Sanjog is an Indian Hindi language drama television series that premiered on 22 August 2022 on Zee TV and digitally streamed on ZEE5. Produced by Rashmi Sharma under the banner of Rashmi Sharma Telefilms, the series stars Shefali Sharma, Rajneesh Duggal and Kamya Punjabi. It replaced Kashibai Bajirao Ballal in its timeslot. It went off-air on 25 November 2022 and was replaced by Rabb Se Hai Dua in its timeslot.
